Irma Libohova (born 14 April 1959) [1] is an Albanian singer and songwriter.

Life and career

Libohova was born in Libohovë in a family originating from Libohovë. [2] She debuted in the Albanian National Festival (Albanian : Festivali i Këngës) in December 1978. Libohova became known in the 1980s due to her singing style full of energy and powerful voice. During her career, she has won several prizes, some of them in the National Festival such as 1983 with "Zgjodha njeriun" (I chose the person), 1987 "Nuk e harroj" (I don't forget it) - winner of the 26th edition, 1988 with "Dy shoqe ne dhe duhemi si motra" (Two friends and lobe each other like sisters), 1991 with "Horoskopi" (Horoscope), 1996 with "Gjethet e shtatorit" (September leaves), and other recent competitions as Kënga Magjike of 2000 with "1001 ëndrra" (1001 dreams), 2004 with "Prapë tek ti do vij" (I will come back to you) (2004), etc. [1] She is the older sister of Albanian singer Eranda Libohova.

In his book Albanian: Zhvillimi i stileve në veprat e kompozitorëve shqiptarë të Kosovës, Engjëll Berisha comments:

"The diversity of styles in Albanian music [of Kosovo], its national patterns with sound idea-aesthetic foundations are a characteristic of the European musical reality, so many many works are of interest abroad, too, because during this relatively short period Albanian classical music in Kosovo has compensated for the delay in its development."

Elvana Gjata is an Albanian singer, songwriter and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Tirana, she has been referred to as a "Diva of Albanian music". She rose to recognition in Albania and other Albanian-speaking territories in the Balkans following the release of her two studio albums, Mamës (2007) and Afër dhe larg (2011). The singer saw further success through many acclaimed singles, as well as her extended plays 3 (2018) and Çelu (2021), and has achieved multiple number one singles in the Albanian singles chart. Gjata has also received numerous awards and accolades, including two Balkan Music Awards, a Festivali i Këngës Award, four Kënga Magjike Awards and a Top Fest Award.

Alida Hisku is an Albanian singer who was especially popular in the 1970s. Since 1990, she has lived in Germany.

Eni Koçi, is an Albanian singer and songwriter.

Nexhati Libohova (Ismailati) (Libohovë, 1877 – Shkallnur, May 26, 1915) was an Albanian politician, active in the early independence period. A former cadet in the Ottoman Empire, he later joined the government of Essad Pasha Toptani to serve as Minister of Finances. He held the post for less than a year, having been assassinated by Osman Bali over a political dispute with the head of the government, Essad Pasha.
