Iron On was an Australian indie rock band from Brisbane, Queensland.
The band formed in 2002 after members Kate Cooperand Ross Hope met at university. Not long after, Ian Rogers joined, and Iron on was forged – named after a Superchunk song. After three years original drummer Nicola Phoenix was replaced by Marieca Page.
Iron on releases to date consist of debut EP "The Understudy" (2003), EP "Everybody Calm Down" (2004), debut album "Oh The Romance" (2005) and EP "The Verse" (2007). They were nominated for "favourite new international artist/group" in 2006 by Canadian Music Week. [1]
According to the band's Myspace profile, Iron on has disbanded. Kate Cooper now plays in the band An Horse along with Damon Cox, drummer for bands Intercooler and Mary Trembles. Ian Rogers plays bass guitar in duo No Anchor. Ross Hope has started a new pop/rock band called Disco Nap.
Iron on recorded their debut album in a renovated Church turned Studio out in Applewood, Ipswich with ARIA award-winning producer Magoo (Regurgitator, Midnight Oil, Jebediah, Kate Miller-Heidke).
The band members remarked on the setting of the recording studio as being 'alarmingly similar to the Great Northern Hotel in Twin Peaks' [2]
Since forming in July 2002, Iron on have also toured around Australia and played as far afield as Canada, alongside such illustrious artists as Sleater Kinney (US), Ben Kweller (US), Kaki King (US), Magic Dirt (AUS), Screamfeeder (AUS), The Superjesus (AUS), The Gossip (US), Tegan and Sara (CAN), Shout Out Louds (SWE) and The Shins (US).
In 2003 Iron on played the Brisbane leg of the Livid Festival [3] and in January 2005 played the Big Day Out. [4] November 2005 they were selected by Triple J for the Next Crop promotion in celebration of Oz Music Month.
In December 2005 Rave Magazine named them "Rave Critics Choice 2005" for debut album Oh the Romance.[ citation needed ] In February 2006 the band hit the road with Canadian songwriting wonder-twins Tegan and Sara. Shortly after, the band showcased at Canadian Music Week (CMW) in Toronto, where they were shortlisted for the "2006 Indies" in the "Favourite New Artist/International Group" category. [1] and managed to create a stir with Canadian fans and critics alike.
Their release of "Oh The Romance" was met with acclaim across Brisbane and Australia, with a number of local street press [5] and local community radio stations making it their album of the week.

Ambulance LTD was an indie rock group formed in Spanish Harlem, New York City in 2000. The band was founded by Michael Di Liberto and David Longstreth from Cleveland OH. Marcus Congleton joined about a year later and continued on with their name and ideas with other members. They signed to TVT Records after getting positive reviews from their live shows and recorded their debut album LP on March 23, 2004 in the US and March 14, 2005 in the UK and went on to sell more than 100,000 copies worldwide.
Born/Dead is a hardcore punk band formed in late 2000 in Oakland, California, consisting of Bill Jackson playing drums, Wyatt Culbertson playing bass and splitting vocal duties with guitarist Will Kinser. Will had been a member of the short-lived Santa Cruz/San Francisco, California band No Options. No Options had broken up suddenly upon the death of member Chad W. Rickley. All of Born/Dead's records have been dedicated to his memory and they still play No Options songs in their live set.

He was also lead singer/songwriter for Drag; his current solo tour is 'Splinters', a follow-up to his 2013 solo tour 'Translations.' Kate Melina Miller-Heidke is an Australian singer and songwriter. Although classically trained, she has generally followed a career in alternative pop music. She signed to Sony Australia, Epic in the US and RCA in the UK, but since 2014 has been an independent artist. Four of her solo studio albums have peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, Curiouser, Nightflight, O Vertigo! and Child in Reverse. Her most popular single, "The Last Day on Earth", reached No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart after being used in promos for TV soap, Neighbours, earlier in that year. At the ARIA Music Awards Miller-Heidke has been nominated 17 times.

Violent Soho were an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland originally under the name of "showroom". For the majority of the band's existence, the line-up was composed of Luke Boerdam, James Tidswell, Luke Henery and Michael Richards. Their sound has been compared to that of 1980s and 1990s alternative rock bands such as the Pixies, Mudhoney and Nirvana. Although being largely described as grunge, the band self described themselves as a "stoner pop" band. The band's third studio album, Hungry Ghost, was certified Gold in Australia in September 2014. Their fourth album, Waco, debuted at number 1 on the Australian ARIA Charts in 2016. The band's fifth album, Everything Is A-OK, was released on 3 April 2020 and also debuted at number 1 on the ARIA charts.
