Isah Misau (born 1970 in Bauchi, Nigeria) is a Nigerian politician. He is currently the chairman House committee on Navy in the Senate of Nigeria. [1] [2] He is currently a member of the Senate of Nigeria representing the Bauchi Central senatorial district. [3] [4] [5]

Education and career

Misau studied at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna where he studied and obtained his BSc in Business administration in 1997. In 2010, he obtained a master's degree in Law Enforcement from Ahmadu Bello University.

Isah Misau began his career in 2000 as an Administrative officer in the Nigeria Police Force and served in the force for ten years before resigning. In 2015, Misau declared his interest to run for the Bauchi Central senatorial seat and won the election in March 2015, defeating the former Deputy majority leader Abdul Ningi. [6] [7]

The Nigeria Police Force is the principal law enforcement agency in Nigeria with a staff strength of about 371,800. There are currently plans to increase the force to 650,000, adding 280,000 new recruits to the existing 370,000. The NPF is a very large organization consisting of 36 State commands grouped into 12 zones and 7 administrative organs. The agency is currently headed by IGP Adamu Muhammed.

Abdul Ahmed Ningi is the Deputy Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate. A member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP), he is the Nigerian Senator from Bauchi Central senatorial zone serving since 2011. Bauchi Central senatorial zone includes the local government areas of Danbam, Darazo, Ganjuwa, Misau, Ningi, and Warji.

Controversy

In August 2017, Misau faced serious allegations from the police IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris. In one of the allegations, IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris accused senator Misau of being a regular buyer and user of Indian hemp. He was also accused of being a "deserter" [8] from the police force and possible forgery of retirement letter. This revelations were made during a financial allegation case against the IGP. [9] [10] [11] In September 2017, the police commission confirmed that Misau's retirement letter is valid. [12]

Ibrahim Idris Kpotun is a Nigerian police officer and former Inspector General of Police. He was appointed to this position by President Muhammadu Buhari on 21 March 2016, replacing Solomon Arase, who retired from the police force on 21 June 2016. Idris hails from Kutigi, Lavun in Niger State. He was born on 15 January 1959, and enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force in 1984, after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture. He also holds a degree in Law from the University of Maiduguri.

Apocynum cannabinum is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows throughout much of North America - in the southern half of Canada and throughout the United States. It is a poisonous plant: Apocynum means "poisonous to dogs". All parts of the plant are poisonous and can cause cardiac arrest if ingested. However, some Lepidoptera feed on this plant, such as two hummingbird moths. The specific epithet cannabinum and the common names hemp dogbane and Indian hemp refer to its similarity to Cannabis as a fiber plant, rather than as a source of a psychoactive drug.

Olubukola Abubakar Saraki is a former President of Nigeria's Senate and Governor of Kwara State under the platform of the People's Democratic Party from 2003 to 2011.
