Isaya Mwita Charles is a Tanzanian politician who has been serving as the 17th and current Mayor of Dar es Salaam since March 21, 2016. [2] Prior to his appointment as mayor, he served at the Temeke Municipal Council as a cashier before contesting the general election for the Vijibweni Ward representative as councilor in Kigamboni District in Dar es Salaam.
Isaya Mwita Charles is the Lord Mayor of Dar es Salaam City in The United Republic of Tanzania and a member of the CHADEMA, Isaya Mwita Charles was elected a Councilor in 2015. [3] On March 21, 2016, he was officially elected as the Mayor of Dar es Salaam City Council. [4]
Isaya Mwita Charles was born in Tarime District, Mara the then Musoma Region, on 28 February 1974
From 1994 to 1997, Isaya Mwita Charles attended Tarime Secondary School in Tarime district and was awarded a certificate of Secondary Education (CSE). From July 2005 to May 2007, he attended the Al Haramain Secondary School where he was awarded an advanced certificate in secondary Education (ACSE). Subsequently, from October 2008 to June 2011, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Economics at the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy. [5]
Prior to politics, he worked as an economist for Temeke Municipal Council and ran a printing company in Kariakoo. [5]
Isaya Mwita Charles is a prominent critic of creationism, a religious belief that humanity, life, and the universe were created not for anything but to live together as one community and to share, exchange, explaining and to trust each other as the son and daughter of Male and a Female. Due to that philosophy as a Lord Mayor he decided to establish a common creatives to people creating and sharing responsibility, credibility and accountability.[ citation needed ]

The region is comparable in size to the combined land and water areas of the nation state of Mauritius. Dar es Salaam Region is bordered to the east by Indian Ocean and it is entirely surrounded by Pwani Region. Temeke District, officially the Temeke Municipal Council is one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Temeke is bordered to the south by the Mkuranga District of the Pwani Region, to the north by the Indian Ocean, and to the northwest by the Ilala District. Temeke's eastern boundary is shared by Kigamboni District. The district covers an area of 150.4 km2 (58.1 sq mi). The district is comparable in size to the land area of Cook Islands. The administrative seat is Miburani. The district is home to the University of Dar es Salaam's School of Education, the National Stadium, the largest stadium in the country, Port of Dar es Salaam the largest port in the country, and The Chamazi Stadium the largest privately owned stadium. The 2012 National Tanzania Census states the population of the district as 1,205,949.

Kitunda is an administrative ward of the Ilala Municipal Council of the Dar es Salaam Region in Tanzania. Kipawa, Yombo Vituka, and Buza, the last two of Temeke MC, border the ward to the north. The Kiburugwa and Charambe wards of Temeke MC border the east of the ward. Chamazi is to the south, and Kivule lies to the west. According to the 2022 census, the ward has a total population of 42,259.
Azimio is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Temeke and Miburani wards encircle the ward on its northern border. Makangarawe and Tandika are to the west. Buza, Mbagala, and Kijichi are to the south. Mtoni ward is to the east. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 55,082.
Chamazi is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The Kitunda, Kivule, and Msongola wards of Ilala MC's form the western border of the ward. Mianzini and Charambe are to the north. Tambani ward in Pwani Region's Mkuranga District is to the south and east. The ward is home to the Azam Football Club and the Chamazi Stadium. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 63,650.
Kurasini is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Home of The Dar es Salaam Port, It is the location of the Port of Dar es Salaam; the fourth-largest port in Africa on the Indian Ocean, The National Police College, the Mgulani Police Barracks, Tanzania Immigration Headquarters, Diplomacy College and the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair Grounds. Kurasini, under the British occupation of Tanganyika was built before 1940 for European port officials only. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 26,193.
Miburani is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. It is the seat of Temeke District. Azimio and Temeke Wards are to the south and west of Miburani, and Chang'ombe, Keko, and Kurasini Wards are to the north and east. The ward is home to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Uhuru Stadium the former being the largest stadium in the country and the latter being the most historic. Miburani also hosts Chang'ombe Cemetery and Chang'ombe Police Station as it was once part of Chang'ombe ward. According to the 2002 census, the ward has a total population of 41,176.
Temeke is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. In the north, the ward is bounded by the Buguruni and Vingunguti of Ilala MC. Sandali, borders the west. Chang'ombe forms the ward's eastern boundary. The ward's southern boundaries are formed by Miburani, Azimio, and Tandika. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 49,491.
The position of Mayor is a political position elected by the Councillors, along with the Local Governments administrative of Dar es Salaam consisting of not less than 92 wards and is accountable for the Dar es Salaam City Council.
Keko is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Mchafukoge, Gerezani, and Ilala of the Ilala MC's border the ward on its northern side. Kurasini Ward is to the east of the ward. Miburani ward is in the south. Chang'ombe is the west. Keko also hosts the largest Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) in Temeke District. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 35,163.
Jumanne Abdallah Maghembe is a former Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism for the United Republic of Tanzania. He has been a Member of Parliament for Mwanga constituency since 2000 until 2020.
The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) is a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. DUCE is located in Miburani ward, Temeke municipality close to Tanzania National Stadium. It is one of the higher learning institutions in Tanzania established in 2005 as part of the Tanzanian Government development policy to extend secondary school education in Tanzania. The core activities of the college is teaching, conducting research and offering public consultation.

She was then appointed as the District Commissioner for Temeke District in Dar es Salaam Region in July 2021. Hon. Jokate Mwegelo was appointed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan as the District Commissioner for Korogwe District in Tanga Region in January, 2023 . She is a member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, previously served as Secretary in charge of Public Relations and Mobilization UVCCM - youth wing of Chama Cha Mapinduzi.
