Ishan Malhotra

Ishan Malhotra (born 22 May 1984 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir) is an Indian cricketer who played for the Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) having previously represented Punjab cricket team. He currently plays for the Maratha Arabians in Abu Dhabi T10 league. [1]

He is a bowling all-rounder, who bats right-handed and played for Punjab between 2001 and 2007 before switching to the ICL. In that period he played nine first-class matches for his state scoring 224 runs and taking 33 wickets. He played 10 List A matches for his state and took four wickets and in four Twenty20 matches he took two wickets. He made his first-class debut against Assam and took figures of 7/59 (seven wickets and conceding 59 runs).

He was picked by Deccan Chargers in the IPL [2] but only played a solitary game for them during which he bowled a single over which was hit for 23 by Virender Sehwag who went onto score a 48 ball century. [3] [4]

He played for Maratha Arabians during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 league appearing in 6 matches, scoring 36 runs but failing to take a wicket. [5]

In a 2011 Ranji Trophy match against Assam, he set a record for the most dismissals in a first-class match by a wicket-keeper; taking 14 in total.

T10 cricket or Ten10 cricket is a short form of cricket. Two teams play a single innings, which is restricted to a maximum of ten overs per side, with the game lasting approximately 90 minutes. The first competition using this format took place in December 2017, the opening season of the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates. The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially sanctioned the league. In May 2020, Eoin Morgan, the captain of the England cricket team, supported the idea of using the format at the Olympics, with former international cricketers Virender Sehwag and Shahid Afridi also supporting the idea. In June 2022, Cricket West Indies became the first full-member cricket board to start a T10 competition, which is called The 6ixty. The tournament was played as a round robin followed by semifinals and the final. It was originally scheduled to be played from 19 to 28 November 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. The tournament started from 28 January with final held on 6 February 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021–22 Abu Dhabi T10 was the fifth season of the cricket league Abu Dhabi T10. The matches had a 10-over-a-side format with a time duration of 90 minutes. The tournament was played from 19 November to 4 December 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. A new team called The Chennai Braves was added in place of Maratha Arabians, Qalandars and Pune Devils.
