The East Central Railway is one of the 18 railway zones in India. It is headquartered at Hajipur and comprises Sonpur, Samastipur, Danapur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and Dhanbad divisions.
The 20801 / 20802 Magadh Express is a superfast train running between New Delhi and Islampur. Its number is 20801/20802 and it departs from Islampur and reaches New Delhi the following day. In the past, its number was 2401/2402 and was run from the Northern Railway zone. Now it is run as a train from South Eastern Railway zone. Earlier a train named Sonbhadra Express used to run between Patna to New Delhi and vice versa. It was converted to Magadh Express after combining it with Vikramshila Express.
Kiul Junction railway station, is one of the major railway junctions in Danapur division of East Central Railway. Kiul is connected to metropolitan areas of India, by the Howrah–Delhi main line via Mugalsarai–Patna route which runs along the historic Grand Trunk Road. The Danapur railway division's main line crosses Sahibganj loop line at the Kiul Junction. The main line crosses the Kiul River between Kiul Junction and Lakhisarai Junction. The Gaya–Kiul line also starts from the Kiul Junction.

Mokama is connected to metropolitan areas of India, by the Delhi–Kolkata main line via Mugalsarai–Patna route. Mokama is located in Mokama city in Barh in the Indian state of Bihar. Due to its location on the Howrah–Patna–Mughalsarai main line many Patna, Barauni-bound express trains coming from Howrah, Sealdah, Ranchi, Tatanagar stop here. Mokama station is an important of the Danapur division as it links, Assam through the Mokama–Barauni section and North Bihar by the Rajendra Bridge on the Ganga river.
Danapur Railway Station or Danapur Junction, station code DNR, is a large railway station and headquarters of Danapur railway division of East Central Railway. Danapur is connected to metropolitan areas of India by the Delhi–Kolkata main line via Mughalsarai–Patna route. It is in Khagaul city about 6 km from Danapur Cantonment, in Patna district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Gaya Junction railway station is a junction station serving the city of Gaya, the headquarters of Gaya district and Magadh Division in the Indian state of Bihar. Gaya is in the Mughalsarai railway division of the East Central Railway zone. Grand Chord rail-line that connects Howrah and New Delhi passes through Gaya. It lies between Mughalsarai Junction on the Delhi side and Dhanbad Junction on the Howrah side. It is located at 24°48′13″N84°59′57″E. It has an elevation of 117 metres (384 ft). Gaya is connected with most of the states through rail network. Very few trains do-not stop here- sealdah duranto, bhubaneswar duranto, jharkhand sampark kranti and Odisha sampark kranti. There are also two other broad-gauge train lines from Gaya, one to Patna and the other to Kiul Junction. The city has two major railway stations: Gaya Junction & Manpur Junction. Gaya is well connected with Patna, Jehanabad, Biharsharif, Rajgir, Islampur, Nawada through daily passenger and express train services.

Bihar Sharif has well connected trains running frequently to New Delhi, Patna Junction, Varanasi Junction, and Howrah Junction and with nearby cities Gaya Junction, Rajgir railway station, Tilaiya railway station, Bhagalpur railway station, Kiul Junction through daily passenger and express train services.
A new branch line between Neora railway station and Sheikhpura railway station via Neora, Jatdumri, Daniyawan, Bihar Sharif, Shiekhpura is under construction in which Bihar Sharif–Daniyawan section was partially started in 2015.

The Neora–Daniyawan–Bihar Sharif–Sheikhpura line is a proposed railway line connecting Neora on the Howrah–Delhi main line and Sheikhpura on the Gaya–Kiul line both in the Indian state of Bihar.This line will connect Neora on the Howrah–Delhi main line near Danapur, Jatdumri on Patna–Gaya line, Daniyawan on Fatuha–Tilaiya line, Bihar Sharif on Bakhtiyarpur–Tilaiya line and Sheikhpura on Gaya–Kiul line.
