Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is a Kenyan politician and land economist who is currently serving as Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya and expanded role of Foreign &Diaspora Affairs Minister of Kenya,he is also the party leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC),one of the founding political parties,of the Kenya Kwanza alliance. He served as the 7th Vice-President of Kenya in 2002 and Deputy Prime Minister (2008–2012),when he resigned to contest for the Presidency in the 2013 Kenyan general election and emerged third. He was the deputy party leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) (2005–2012) and Party Leader of the United Democratic Forum Party (UDF) from May 2012 to July 2015.

Makadara Constituency is an electoral constituency in Nairobi City County,Kenya. It is one of the seventeen constituencies in the county. It was renamed prior to the 1997 elections,but was also known as Doonholm Constituency for the 1963 and 1969 elections,then as Bahati Constituency. It consists of some central and southern of central areas of Nairobi County. The entire constituency is located within Nairobi City County,and has an area of 13 km². The current constituency boundaries were revised prior to the 2013 elections. It has a population of 189,536 people from the 2019 census report.
Hassan Ali Joho is a Kenyan politician and the former Governor of Mombasa County affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He was also elected to represent the Kisauni Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya during the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. On 4 March 2013,during the general election,Joho was elected as the first governor of Mombasa County. In the 2017 General Elections held on 8 August,Joho retained his seat on an ODM ticket. Despite significant politically engineered setbacks,Joho emerged triumphant by winning with 220 576 votes against his closest rival Suleiman Shahbal with 69 322 votes,Suleiman was a member of the Jubilee Party. Joho served as governor of Mombasa until 2022,when he completed the constitunionally allowed two five-year terms. He was succeded by Abdulswammad Sherrif Nassir the former member of the National Assembly for Mvita Constituency.

Sub-counties,formerly known as Districts,are the decentralised units through which government of Kenya provides functions and services. Except for the parts which fall under urban areas,sub-counties will coincide with the constituencies created under article 89 of the Constitution of Kenya. Most sub-counties have a sub-county administrator,appointed by a County Public Service Board. Even though the sub-counties are divisions of counties,powers to create new sub-counties lies with the national government. As of 2023,there are 314 sub-counties,compared to 290 constituencies. A deputy county commissioner is appointed by the state to lead each sub-county.

The Battle of Shela occurred around 1812 on the sand dunes near the village of Shela on Lamu Island,in what is now Kenya,just south of the larger village of Lamu.
