The Issyk-Kul Marathon [lower-alpha 1] is an annual road-based marathon hosted by Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, since 2012. [4] [3] [6] [1] [5] The marathon is a World Athletics Label Road Race. [7] During the race weekend, a half marathon, a 10K race, and a 3K race are also offered. [8]

Issyk-Kul or Ysyk-Köl is an endorheic saline lake in the western Tianshan Mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan, just south of a dividing range separating Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan. It is the eighth-deepest lake in the world, the eleventh-largest lake in the world by volume, the deepest lake whose deepest point is above sea level, and the third-largest saline lake. The red on the flag is said to be inspired by the pennant lifted by Manas, the country's folk hero.

Naryn is the regional administrative center of Naryn Region in central Kyrgyzstan. Its area is 84 square kilometres (32 sq mi), and its estimated population was 41,178 as of January 2021. The town was established as a fortress on the caravan route in 1868. It is situated on both banks of the river Naryn, which cuts a picturesque gorge through the town. The city has two regional museums and some hotels, but is otherwise residential.

Balykchy is a town at the western end of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, at an elevation of about 1,900 metres. A major industrial and transport centre during the Soviet era, it lost most of its economic base after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the closure of virtually all of its industrial facilities.

Song-Köl is an alpine lake in northern Naryn Region, Kyrgyzstan. It lies at an altitude of 3016 m, and has an area of about 270 km2 and volume of 2.64 km3. The lake's maximum length is 29 km, breadth about 18 km at its widest, and the deepest point is 13.2 m. It is the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan after Issyk-Kul, and the largest fresh water lake in the country.

Tüp or Tyup is a large village in the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan, and the center of the Tüp District. It was established as village Preobrazhenskoye in 1870. Its population was 12,355 in 2021. Tüp is a road junction town at the northeast corner of Lake Issyk Kul. To the west on A363 is Anan'yevo and to the south Karakol. To the east, A362 leads up the Karkara valley to Kazakhstan.

Bökönbai is a village in the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. It is the seat of the Tong District and of the Kün-Chygysh village community. It was established as Kol'tsovka village in 1912. With a population of 14,267 (2021), it is the largest village on the south shore of lake Issyk Kul. Its industry has decayed since Soviet times. It is now a base for tourism into the mountains to the south. There are demonstrations of falconry with eagles. The road to the west to Balykchy goes through dry and less-attractive country.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anan'yevo</span> Place in Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan

Anan'yevo is a village in the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. It is part of the Issyk-Kul District. Its population was 9,362 in 2021. Located on highway A363 on the north shore of Lake Issyk Kul, the next town to the west is Semyonovka, and to the east, Tüp. It was founded in 1871 as Sazonovka settlement and there is still a significant Russian population. In 1942, the village was renamed after one of the Panfilov's Twenty-Eight Guardsmen - Nikolay Yakovlevich Anan'yev, who was born in Sazonovka in 1912. There are a church and a mosque in the village.

Jeti-Ögüz is a balneotherapic resort located at the Jeti-Ögüz Rocks near Issyk Kul in the Jeti-Ögüz District of Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan, about 28 km west of Karakol, and near Jeti-Ögüz village. Its population was 337 in 2021.

Dolon Pass is a pass located between the Songköl Too and the Bayduluu Range in Naryn Region, Kyrgyzstan. The pass lies at 3,030 metres (9,940 ft). Highway of international significance ЭМ-11 connecting Bishkek, Balykchy, Naryn, Torugart, and Kyrgyzstan-China border, which is also known as European route E125 and Asian Highway 61 in Kyrgyzstan, traverses the pass.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Barskoon Waterfall</span>

Barskoon Waterfall is a geological protected area located in Jeti-Ögüz District of Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. It sits 90 km to the south-west of Karakol on one of the tributaries of the river Barskoon. There are several waterfalls at the site, which is located 20 km south of the village of Barskoon. The height of the main cascade is 24 metres (79 ft). National Monument status was established in 1975.

The 2017 Kyrgyzstan Cup is the 26th season of the Kyrgyzstan Cup knockout tournament. The cup winner qualifies for the 2018 AFC Cup.

The Tashkent Marathon is an annual road-based marathon hosted by Tashkent, Uzbekistan, since 2019. It is a World Athletics Label Road Race. During the race weekend, a half marathon, a 10K, and a marathon-length ekiden are also offered.

Kyzart Pass is a pass located between the Kum-Bel and the Baba-Ata ranges in Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan. It connects Kochkor and Jumgal valleys. The elevation of the pass which is kept open all your round is 2,664 m (8,740 ft). The eastern slope is gentle, and the western is steep. Highway of international significance ЭМ-18 connecting Kochkor, Chaek, Suusamyr and Töö Ashuu traverses the pass.
