The Bali Marathon (also known as the Maybank Marathon or Maybank Bali Marathon) is an annual road-based marathon hosted in the Gianyar Regency on the island of Bali in Indonesia. [5] [1] [4] The current version of the marathon has been held since 2012, although the first marathon to be held regularly on Bali was inaugurated in 1999. [6] [7] [4] The marathon is a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race and a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. [1] [8]

History

Initial era

The inaugural race was held on 4 April 1999 as the "Karangasem Bali International Marathon". [6] A total of 147 runners participated in the event, which included a half marathon and a 10K run. [6]

EDP Lisbon Half Marathon is an annual international half marathon competition which is contested every March in Lisbon, Portugal. It carries IAAF Gold Label Road Race status. The men's course record of 57:31 was set by Jacob Kiplimo in 2021, which is the current world record for the half marathon distance. Kenyan runners have been very successful in the competition, accounting for over half of the total winners, with Tegla Loroupe taking the honours in the women's race on six separate occasions. The Lisbon Half Marathon is not to be confused with Luso Portugal Half Marathon, another prominent half marathon race which is also held in Lisbon in October.

The race is part of the Run Ukraine Running League, an annual series of races held in Ukrainian cities.

The 2019 IAAF Road Race Label Events are the twelfth edition of the global series of road running competitions given Label status by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The series included a total of 138 road races: 64 Gold Label, 25 Silver Label and 49 Bronze Label. In terms of distance, 88 races were marathons, 28 were half marathons, 15 were 10K runs, and 7 were held over other distances. The series included all six World Marathon Majors in the Gold category.

The 25K run is a long distance running footrace that is between the distance of a half marathon and a marathon. It was formerly an official world record distance in road running by World Athletics, but has since been downgraded to world best status. Separately, the Association of Road Racing Statisticians retains world records in the 25K distance. The ARRS holds different standards for records than World Athletics, with exclusions for certain point-to-point races and mixed sex races. As a result its women's world record is 1:26:34 by Nancy Conz, set in 1982.

The Kigali International Peace Marathon is an annual road-based marathon hosted by Kigali, Rwanda, since 2005. It is a World Athletics Label Road Race and a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. During the race weekend, a half marathon and a 10K fun run are also offered. A night run is also associated with the event, though not held during the same weekend.
