J.M. Olds Collegiate is a high school located in Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It currently has an enrollment of 111 students and 10 teachers. It operates under the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, formerly the Nova Central School District. [1] [2]
The school is named after Dr. John McKee Olds (March 27, 1906 - September 6, 1985) Dr. Olds practiced medicine in the town of Twillingate for over 49 years. The school was originally named Central High and was renamed to J.M. Olds Collegiate on March 22, 1980 in his honour. [3]
J.M. Olds Collegiate follows the standard Newfoundland and Labrador curriculum, offering general, academic, and advanced courses. The standard courses include English, Mathematics, Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, French, Physical Education, Social Studies, Career, Art and Music classes as well as electives such as Newfoundland Studies, Nutrition, Skilled Trades, Philosophy, Clothing, and Textiles.
The school has junior and senior volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, ice hockey, badminton, ball hockey and frisbee teams. The schools official mascot is a tiger. The school also has a Drama Club, and Art Club.

Kraft Hockeyville is an annual competition sponsored by Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association in which communities compete to demonstrate their commitment to the sport of ice hockey. The winning community gets a cash prize dedicated to upgrading their local home arena, as well as the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game. Runners-up also get smaller cash prizes to upgrade their ice rinks. The contest is normally held in the winter and spring during the latter half of the NHL regular season while the winner is announced in late March or April, with the pre-season game usually held in September before the following regular season. If the winning arena is not adequately equipped to host the pre-season game, it is then played at an alternative site nearby.
Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute is a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Steeles neighbourhood of the former suburb of Scarborough. It was founded in 1979 and named after Norman Bethune, a Canadian doctor and communist who served under the Eighth Route Army. The school is attended by over 1000 students, most of whom speak a primary language other than English, the language of instruction. Derrick Dalley, is a former Canadian politician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He served as the Minister of Natural Resources in the provincial cabinet. Dalley has represented the district of The Isles of Notre Dame in the House of Assembly from 2007 until 2015. Before entering politics he worked as a guidance counselor and principal.
