Ivan Ivankov is a retired Belarusian artistic gymnast. Ivankov; a very big name in the gymnastics world, which he earned throughout years of competition and hard work. The 1994 and 1997 all-around World Champion, and the 1994 and 1996 all-around European Champion, Ivankov has competed for over a decade on the international circuit. Despite his numerous achievements at the World Championships, Europeans and other events, Ivankov has suffered a string of misfortunes at the Olympics, and has never won an Olympic medal. He had to share a third place with another competitor, after which, the bronze Olympic medal wasn’t given to him.
Franco Menichelli is a retired Italian gymnast. He competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympics and won one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
Klaus Köste was a German gymnast. He won a gold medal in the vault at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. He competed for East Germany and won bronze medals in the team all-around event in three Olympics, in 1964, 1968 and 1972. He was particularly strong on the horizontal bar, winning the 1971 and 1973 European championships and a bronze medal at the 1970 World championship in this event.
Gambia took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. It was Gambia's seventh appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1984. The Gambia team included three athletes; runners Suwaibou Sanneh and Fatou Tiyana as well as boxer Badou Jack. Jack, a middleweight at his first Olympics, was selected as flag bearer for both the opening and closing ceremonies. None of the Gambia athletes progressed further than the qualifying heats.
Robert Willis "Jack" Morey Jr. was an American competition rower and Olympic champion. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, where he received a gold medal in the men's eight with the American team. He graduated from Yale University in 1958 and was a member of Skull and Bones. He served in the United States Navy aboard the icebreaker USS Atka as a lieutenant jg. and would later earn an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Nikolay Fyodorovich Balboshin is a retired Soviet heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler. He rarely lost a bout in the 1970s, winning five world titles, six European titles, and an Olympics gold medal in 1976. At the 1976 Olympics he pinned all his five opponents, in total spending less than 17 minutes on the mat. He was the Soviet flag bearer and a clear favorite at the Moscow Olympics, but injured an Achilles tendon in the second bout and withdrew from the tournament. He recovered by 1984, when he won his last Soviet title and was selected for the 1984 Games, but could not compete because of the 1984 Summer Olympics boycott by the Soviet Union. He retired from competitions to become a wrestling coach n Moscow. In 2006 he was inducted into the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Adolf Metzner was a German athlete who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics. After finishing his career due to Achilles tendon rupture he became a carpenter in the Bavaria region of Germany. In 1947 he worked with Ernst Gadermann to develop the first telemetric measurements of the ECG in athletes.
Angus Weatherit Scott was a British track and field athlete who competed in sprinting events. He represented Great Britain at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was affiliated with the Achilles Club. He was part of the winning British 4×400 metres relay team at the 1950 European Athletics Championships.
Donald Mark Witherspoon is an American former sprinter. He joined his high school track team after having success as a cornerback on the football team. In college, he was primarily a 200 m and 400 m runner. He recorded an impressive 19.3 200 m split on a 4 × 200 m and a 43.9 440 yd leg on a 4x440 yd while in college. As a professional, he competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics, where he tore his achilles tendon.
Sergey Vladimirovich Shubenkov is a Russian athlete who competes in the 110 metres hurdles. He is the 2015 World Champion, two-time European Champion and 2013 World bronze medalist in men's 110 m hurdles.
John William Merchant was an American athlete. He competed in the men's long jump at the 1920 Summer Olympics and the men's hammer throw at the 1924 Summer Olympics.
