Jack Hadjinian is the former mayor of Montebello,California and a former member of the Montebello City Council.
Jack Hadjinian was born in Montebello,California,to a second-generation Armenian-American family. [1] His grandfather was a survivor of the Armenian genocide. [2] He attended Armenian Mesrobian School,a local Armenian private school. [3] [4] After graduating high school,he continued his studies at Pasadena City College and the University of Southern California. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy.
Hadjinian works as a commercial real-estate agent and is a member of the Montebello Board of Realtors. [1] He also served as the Chairman of the Montebello Chamber of Commerce,Chairman of the Civil Service Commission,and member of the Investment Committee.

Hadjinian ran for Montebello City Council in 2011 and was elected as a councilmember on November 8 and became the first Armenian-American to serve on the City Council. [4] After Hadjinian had served three years on the City Council,his fellow councilmembers selected him as mayor. [6] Art Barajas,a councilman,became the Mayor Pro Tem. [6] The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Sheriff Jim McDonnell,Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian,and Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian,Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America. Hadjinian was reelected to the City Council in November 2015 for a second term. [6] [7] Jack Hadjinian once again ran for reelection in November 2020,but he finished in third place,with less than 14 percent of the vote,divided among five candidates (the top-two vote-getters would be elected). [8] During his tenure on the Montebello City Council,he served as Chairman of the ACE Project;Chairman of the Housing,Community and Economic Development Policy Committee for the League of California Cities;Chairman of the Committee on Homelessness for the Gateway Cities;and Board member for San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments and Gateway Cities Council of Governments. Hadjinian currently serves on the Executive Council of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America and the County of Los Angeles Commission on Alcohol and Other Drugs. The Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument,better known as Montebello Genocide Memorial,is a monument in Montebello,California in the Los Angeles metropolitan area,dedicated to the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915. The monument,opened in April 1968,is a tower of eight arches supported on 75-foot-tall (23 m) white concrete columns. The memorial was designed by Hrant Agbabian. It is the oldest and largest memorial in the United States dedicated to the Armenian Genocide victims. The inscription on the memorial plaque reads:

William Mihrtad Paparian is an American politician,a former mayor of Pasadena,California,serving from 1995 to 1997. He was also a member of the Pasadena City Council from 1987 to 1999,and a Green Party candidate for Congress in 2006. He was the first Armenian-American mayor of Pasadena,as well as the only Pasadena mayor to visit Cuba during his term. Paparian has been known throughout his political career as an outspoken advocate of controversial causes,including ending the trade embargo against Cuba. He attracted national media attention for dispatching a Pasadena police helicopter to issue a citation to state aircraft spraying pesticides over the city,and for his urging Rose Parade observers in 2008 to turn their backs on the Chinese float,which he called the "Beijing Float of Shame."
