Prior to his work as a prosecutor,he was an assistant chief of police for the LAPD,and Chief of Police in Mesa,Arizona and San Francisco.

Charles Lloyd Beck is a retired American police officer,formerly serving as the Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and subsequently as the Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. A veteran of the department with over four decades as an officer,he is known for commanding and rehabilitating the Rampart Division after the Rampart scandal;and for technology enhancements during his time as Chief of Detectives. He agreed to be interim Superintendent of Police in Chicago in late 2019 while the city searches nationwide for a replacement for retiring Eddie Johnson. Beck took the helm of the Chicago Police Department on December 2,2019,after Johnson was fired. On April 15,2020,Beck stepped down and was replaced by former Dallas Police Department Chief David Brown,who had been nominated by Lightfoot to serve as permanent Superintendent. After his retirement he rejoined the Reserve Corps as a Reserve Police Officer and is assigned to the Office Of The Chief Of Police.
Michael P. Downing is an American police officer who served as the interim Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department. On August 5,2009,Chief William J. Bratton announced that after seven years as chief,he would be stepping down from his position. Bratton continued to serve as LAPD chief until October 30,2009. After Bratton stepped down,Downing was appointed as Chief of Police by the L.A. Board of Police Commissioners. As of January 2014,Downing is a 29-year veteran of the Department.
Christopher Jordan Dorner was a former officer of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) who,beginning on February 3,2013,committed a series of killings against the LAPD in Orange County,Los Angeles County,Riverside County and San Bernardino County in the U.S. state of California. The victims were law enforcement officers and the daughter of a retired police captain. Dorner killed four people and wounded three others. On February 12,Dorner was cornered by police in a cabin in the woods that was set on fire where he killed himself after a shootout with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Stephen Downing is an American screenwriter,producer,activist,and investigative journalist who began his screenwriting career in the 1960s while still working as a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer. Most of Downing's pre-1980 writing and producing credits appeared under pseudonyms to escape notice of the LAPD. Downing is active in the movement to end the international war on drugs and the militarization of police in America. In 2011,Downing became a board member of Law Enforcement Action Partnership,formerly known as Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP),after years representing the group as a speaker. He left the board in 2019,but is still an advisory board member who gives speeches and writes op-ed pieces on behalf of the group. He also volunteers his time as an investigative journalist,with a focus on police corruption and reform,for a local print newspaper in Long Beach,California. As a television producer and screenwriter he is best known for the series Walking Tall,RoboCop:The Series,T. J. Hooker and MacGyver.
Alejandro Villanueva is an American law enforcement officer who served as the 33rd sheriff of Los Angeles County,California from 2018 until 2022. He defeated incumbent sheriff Jim McDonnell in the 2018 L.A. County Sheriff's race,making him the first to unseat an incumbent in over 100 years. Before becoming Sheriff,he was a lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
