Jackie Beat (born July 24, 1963) is the drag persona of actor, singer, songwriter and screenwriter Kent Fuher. Beat has appeared in a number of independent feature films both in and out of drag, including Wigstock: The Movie , Flawless , and Adam & Steve (for which he also wrote and performed the song "Dance Off"). In television, Beat has appeared on Sex and the City and was a writer for the short-lived sketch comedy series Hype on The WB Television Network.

Contents

Beat was a fixture on the New York City cabaret scene [1] and performs sold-out Gay Pride and Christmas runs every year. She has performed at clubs such as Martinis Above Fourth in San Diego, CA; Executive Suite in Long Beach, CA; Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood; [2] Cavern Club in Silver Lake; [2] Badlands in Sacramento, CA; Re-bar and Julia's Restaurant in Seattle, WA; and the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City. She has also appeared at Bob's Comedy Funhouse in Cardiff, Sheffield, Nottingham, Manchester, and London; 170 Russell in Melbourne, Australia; FAMILY in Brisbane, Australia, and numerous other venues.

In 2015, Beat was the host of Seattle Pride’s Pride Parade. [3]

In March of 2019, Beat appeared as Bea Arthur at an event called The MisMatch Game, hosted by Dennis Hensley, for the Los Angeles LGBT Center's 15th Anniversary celebration. [4] [5] [6] Beat frequently performs as both Arthur and her Golden Girls character Dorothy Zbornak, notably in the parody theater show The Golden Gurlz.

Early life

Beat was born Kent Fuher on July 24, 1963 to Jack and Liliana Fuher. She debuted her drag persona at Los Angeles's Café Largo in the late 1980s. [10]

Music

Beat is the lead singer of the Electroclash band Dirty Sanchez. She has also released 7 albums as a solo artist, primarily R-rated parodies of mainstream songs.

Personal life

Beat lived in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles for many years. She sold her home there in 2016 [11] and currently resides in Altadena, California. [12] She is a vocal supporter of President Barack Obama [2] and a harsh critic of figures such as Donald Trump [13] [14] and former presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.

Chico's Angels is a live comedy production in Los Angeles which parodies the 1976–1981 television series Charlie's Angels. Starring three drag queens in the title roles, the show has been performed regularly at the Cavern Club Theatre in Silver Lake since July 25, 2003. It was co-created by Oscar Quintero, who performs as one of the leads, and Kurt Koehler, who also directs the show.

"Trump: The Rusical" is the fourth episode of the eleventh season of the American reality competition television series RuPaul's Drag Race, which aired on VH1 on March 21, 2019. The episode has contestants deliver Rachel Maddow impressions for the mini challenge, and perform a musical parody of Grease about Donald Trump and the women in his life and cabinet for the main challenge. The musical features choreography by Yanis Marshall, and sees Donald Trump portrayed by former contestant Ginger Minj. Now That's What I Call Drag Music, Vol. 1, also known as Songs in the Key of Nope, is a comedy album by American drag performer Willam Belli, self-released on October 26, 2018. The album features fellow RuPaul's Drag Race contestants Latrice Royale and Trixie Mattel, as well as drag performer Rhea Litré. Former contestants Derrick Barry and Courtney Act make guest appearances in the music video for the song "Derrick". In the United States, the album spent two weeks on Billboard's Comedy Albums chart, reaching a peak position of number four.
