Jackson Park Express is a song by the American comedy musician "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is an original song in the style of Cat Stevens. [1] It is the final song on his 2014 studio album, Mandatory Fun .
"Jackson Park Express" tells the story of a man who falls in love with a woman while riding to work on a bus. He appears to be delusional, as he assumes various things based on the woman's body language even though she never says a word to him. The delusions become creepier as the song progresses. Soon, the bus stops and she gets off. The singer is sad that he may never be able to see her again, but will always "remember the moments they shared together".[ citation needed ]
At 9 minutes and 5 seconds, this is the third longest song Yankovic has recorded, behind Trapped in the Drive-Thru (2006) and Albuquerque (1999). It has been described as a "rock opera" that closes out not just Mandatory Fun, but Yankovic's entire album discography. [2] The titular bus is named after a real bus station in Chicago, Illinois. The song has a primary tempo of 140 BPM. [3]
