Pratapgarh, is a town in Rajasthan, India. It is the district headquarters of Pratapgarh district the newest district of Rajasthan. Famous for its Thewa art, the city is surrounded by tribal villages. It is famous for its edible jiralun and hing.
Rajasthan is a state in northern India. The state covers an area of 342,239 square kilometres (132,139 sq mi) or 10.4 percent of the total geographical area of India. In 1970 he got a Merit Certificate for his work. In 1977 he received the National Award. He also received the Rajasthan Samman Award. He received Kala Mani Puraskar and Umed Bhawan Jubilee Award in Jodhpur, as well as the award from INTACH, Delhi.
Jagdish Lal has demonstrated his art in Asia Handicrafts Fair in Japan, Ritteberg Museum in Zurich and Ethnographic Museum in Geneva.

He used the takhallus of Zia meaning "Light" on the suggestion of his teacher, Ghulaam Qadir Farkh Amritsari.

The Ajmer Jain temple, also known as Soniji Ki Nasiyan, is an architecturally rich Jain temple. It was built in the late nineteenth century. The main chamber, known as the Swarna Nagari "City of Gold", has several gold-plated wooden figures, depicting several figures in the Jain religion. This golden chamber of the temple uses 1000 kg of gold to carve out depiction of Ayodhya.

Soni, who is a cancer survivor, was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.
