Jakarta Film Week is an international film festival held in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was initiated by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department of Jakarta in 2021, aimed to support the revival of the film industry post the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. [1]

Contents

In addition to film screenings and awards, the festival also features talk programs, masterclasses, a short film production funding called Jakarta Film Fund, and a producer's lab.

The inaugural edition of Jakarta Film Week was held on 18 to 21 November 2021, took place at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Metropole XXI, and Ashley Hotel. [2]

Triggerfish is a computer animation film studio based in Cape Town, South Africa and Galway, Ireland. The studio is best known for its animated feature films Adventures in Zambezia (2012), Khumba (2013), and Seal Team (2021), as well as the work they have done on television specials created for UK producers Magic Light Pictures. In 2016, Stick Man was awarded the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy International Animation Festival. In 2017, Revolting Rhymes again won the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy Festival, and was nominated for the Best Short Film (Animated) Oscar at the 2018 Academy Awards. In 2019, Netflix announced that Triggerfish would produce its first African animated TV series. In 2020, Zog won the International Emmy for Best Kids Animation. A Copy of My Mind is a 2015 Indonesian drama film written and directed by Joko Anwar. A low-budget co-production between Indonesia and South Korea, the film stars Tara Basro and Chicco Jerikho. Whether the Weather is Fine or Kun Maupay Man It Panahon is a 2021 drama film directed and co-written by Carlo Francisco Manatad in his feature directorial debut. The film is a disaster movie which combines satirical and surreal elements. Starring Daniel Padilla, Rans Rifol, and Charo Santos-Concio, the film is set against the backdrop of the devastation caused by the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The film is a joint production by Black Sheep Productions, Globe Studios, and Dreamscape Entertainment.

Susi Susanti: Love All is a 2019 Indonesian biographical film about Susi Susanti, badminton athlete who won the first gold medal for Indonesia at the 1992 Summer Olympics. The film was directed by Sim F in his directorial debut. The film stars Laura Basuki as Susanti and Dion Wiyoko as Alan Budikusuma.

<i>Autobiography</i> (film) 2022 film

Autobiography is a 2022 thriller drama film written and directed by Makbul Mubarak in his directorial debut. It stars Kevin Ardilova and Arswendy Bening Swara. The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival during the Horizons program on September 2, 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in sections other than the main competition. Autobiography won the sole award in Best Original Screenplay category among other seven nominations at the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival. The film was chosen as the Indonesian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

Women from Rote Island is a 2023 drama film written and directed by Jeremias Nyangoen in his feature directorial debut.

The inaugural edition of Jakarta Film Week was held on 18 to 21 November 2021 by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department of Jakarta as an effort to support the revival of film industry post the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The festival was held in-person and virtual around Central Jakarta at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Metropole XXI, and Ashley Hotel, also through streaming service Vidio. Actress Shenina Cinnamon was appointed as the festival ambassador.

The 2022 Jakarta Film Week, the second edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 13 to 16 October 2022. The festival opened with Fajar Nugros' The Ballads of Roy, and closed with Sorayos Prapapan's film Arnold Is a Model Student.

The 2023 Jakarta Film Week, the third edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 25 to 29 October 2023. The festival opened with Wregas Bhanuteja's film Andragogy, and closed with Amanda Nell Eu's body horror film Tiger Stripes.
