PT Vidio Dot Com (Vidio) is an Indonesia-based over-the-top video streaming service established on 15 October 2014. Originally owned by Mediatama Anugrah Citra, now owned by Surya Citra Media, both are subsidiaries of Emtek. [1] The service's content consists of free-to-air and pay TV channels, live streaming events, films and series, including Vidio original programs. [2] In 2022, Vidio was the largest video on demand service provider in Indonesia, beating Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. [3]

History

Vidio was founded on 15 October 2014 and aimed to be the YouTube for Indonesians. [4] Originally, Vidio's content was dominated by user-generated content and TV content from Emtek's media outlets. In 2015, Vidio had about 3,000 to 4,000 monthly active users. [5] [6]

Emtek's total investment in Vidio as of March 2019 reached IDR 240 billion. Surya Citra Media planned to take over Vidio at a price of IDR 115 billion. [7] After producing 3 original series in 2019, Vidio began to release more original series on Vidio Premier, their premium subscription service, dubbed as "Vidio Originals" in 2020. In the same year, Vidio had 40 million active users. [8]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform saw 225% growth and recorded more than 5 million downloads in App Store and Play Store. [9] [10]

On 7 November 2021, MNC noticed the removal of all MNC's Television channels to Vidio under alleged an carriage dispute when MNC Vision Networks owned Vision+ for RCTI, MNCTV, GTV and iNews. [11]

Vidio is exclusive digital broadcaster of Premier League from 2022–2023 to 2025–2026 season. [12] Most of the big matches were streamed exclusively on the platform with its sister network SCTV and Moji aired the remainders.

After Fox Sports Asia ceased operation in October 2021, Emtek acquired the rights to broadcast Formula One for the remainder of 2021 and 2022 season. [13] The races were broadcast in Champions TV 4 (which included in Vidio's premium subscription) [14] and FTA terrestrial channel Moji.

Vidio officially held its rights for 2022 FIFA World Cup broadcaster in Qatar, 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia and upcoming 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup would be broadcast.

Currently, the broadcaster airs news, soap opera, reality and game shows, along with Nickelodeon animation series and anime, making up its programming schedule. PT Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi Tujuh, operating as Trans7 or TRANS7 in all capitals is an Indonesian free-to-air television network owned by Trans Media, a part of Trans Corp, which in turn a subsidiary of CT Corp. The channel was officially launched as TV7 on 25 November 2001 at 5:00 PM local time. The final transmission and broadcast aired on 15 December 2006 at 19:00 WIB. The network was then sold by Kompas Gramedia Group and the new owners changed the name from TV7 to Trans7.

Digital terrestrial television in Indonesia (DVB-T2) started in 2009, and in most areas runs alongside the analogue TV system. The phase 1 of nationwide analog shutdown will be done in 166 regencies and cities, including Dumai, Banda Aceh, Batam, Tanjungpinang, Serang, Bali, Samarinda, Tanjung Selor, Tarakan, Makassar and Jayapura started from 30 April 2022 and it simplified in three stages. Analog broadcasting station in Jakarta along with 173 regencies/cities non-terrestrial services was officially signed off on 2 November 2022 at midnight. Batam, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta and Yogyakarta followed on 2 December 2022, followed by Surabaya on 20 December 2022, Banjarmasin on 20 March 2023, Bali and Palembang on 31 March 2023, Makassar on 20 June 2023 and Medan on 30 July 2023. On 12 August 2023, the digital terrestrial television of Indonesia fully turned, shifted and switched to all high definition on all thirteen local free-to-air terrestrial television station.

NET is an Indonesian free-to-air private-owned television network that was launched on 26 May 2013. It replaced Spacetoon on terrestrial television. The channel's programming is focused towards family and young-adult viewers, with recent programs are geared for children and women audiences. NET airs 24-hours a day. It broadcasts not only through terrestrial television, but also on social medias and YouTube.

PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk, trading as Emtek, is an Indonesian technology, telecommunication and media conglomerate headquartered in Jakarta. As of 2013, it is Indonesia's second largest media company. It is the parent company for subsidiaries which include pay television service Nex Parabola and five television networks – SCTV, Indosiar, Moji, Ajwa TV, and Mentari TV. It was established in 1983 by Eddy Kusnadi Sariaatmadja. Currently, the company is headed by Alvin Widarta Sariaatmadja as its president director.

iNews is an Indonesian free-to-air television network founded by Media Nusantara Citra, a subsidiary of Global Mediacom unit of MNC Asia Holding. It broadcasting 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCM) is an Indonesian mass media company. It is owned by Elang Mahkota Teknologi and is based in Jakarta. It operates four television networks: SCTV, Indosiar, Ajwa TV, and Mentari TV, as well as the Vidio streaming service, Nex Parabola satellite pay television, and KapanLagi Youniverse. <i>Lorong Waktu</i> (2019 TV series) Indonesian animated series

Lorong Waktu is an Indonesian animated television series with the theme of religion and science fiction produced by CookIt Studio which is the animation division of Demi Gisela Citra Sinema. This series aired on SCTV in May 2019 to coincide with the month of Ramadan 1440 H. This series itself is a loose adaptation of television series with same title which was produced from 1999 to 2006. In the Anugerah Syiar Ramadan 2020 award organized by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), this series won the award for the category "Best Animated Film Program".

The third season of the talent show competition series Indonesia's Got Talent premiered on RCTI on 8 August 2022, and concluded on 3 October 2022. This show is also the first IGT season to be broadcast on a television station under MNC Media, namely RCTI after the previous two seasons aired on 2 television stations under the auspices of Emtek (SCM), namely Indosiar in 2010 and SCTV in 2014.

A Long Way to Come Home is a 2023 drama film directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko and serves as the sequel of 2020 film One Day We'll Talk About Today.

<i>Dancing in the Rain</i> (2018 film) 2018 Indonesian film

Dancing in the Rain is a 2018 Indonesian teen film produced by Screenplay Films and Legacy Pictures. Directed by Rudi Aryanto, it was produced by Sukhdev Singh and Wicky V. Olindo from a screenplay Singh co-wrote with Tisa TS. The film stars Dimas Anggara, Bunga Zainal, Deva Mahenra and Christine Hakim. Dancing in the Rain follows Banyu, a young boy on the autism spectrum, who became friends with Radin and Kinara.
