Jacob Caswell is an American long-distance runner and clinical analyst. [3] [4] [5] They won the non-binary division of the 2022 New York City Marathon and the 2023 Chicago Marathon. [5] [6] [7]

Early life and education

Caswell was born to Micki Kastenschmidt and Von Caswell, and grew up in Berlin, Wisconsin. [8] They competed in track and field as well as cross country events as a student of Berlin High School, and, at the time, had a personal best time of 4:19 for the mile run. [9]

Caswell matriculated at Columbia College in Columbia University as a member of the class of 2020. [9] [8] They studied biology at the university, and competed in middle-distance races during all four years there. [9] [3] Caswell later obtained a master's degree in public health. [10] [11]

Career

Caswell competed in the New York City Half Marathon in 2022, the first year it had a non-binary division, which they won with a time of 1:12:20. [12] [13] They then made their marathon debut at the 2022 Brooklyn Marathon, winning its first non-binary division with a time of 2:35:17. [14] [3] [11] They also won the Brooklyn Half Marathon organized by New York Road Runners (NYRR), competing in its inaugural non-binary division. [13] Caswell then competed in the 2022 New York City Marathon's non-binary division, winning it with a time of 2:45:12. [15] [16] [4] [6] [lower-alpha 1] On February 2, 2023, NYRR honored Caswell as one of the Fred Lebow Runners of the Year. [1] [13] It was the first year NYRR awarded the honor to a male runner, a female runner, and a non-binary runner. [1] [13]

Caswell won the 2023 Chicago Marathon with a finish time of 2:38:05. [18] [5]

Steven Clifton Orlando Holman is a retired American middle-distance runner who competed primarily in the 1500 meters. He represented his country at the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as two indoor and two outdoor World Championships. Holman was coached at Georgetown University and in his professional career by Frank Gagliano.

Allan Steinfeld was the president of the New York Road Runners and race director of the New York City Marathon from 1994 to 2005. During his executive career, Steinfeld was also the technical director of the New York City Marathon and the NYRR's chief executive officer during the 1980s. In 2009, Steinfeld received the Abebe Bikila Award from the NYRR. Outside of the NYRR, Steinfeld was a co-establisher of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races in 1982.

Cecilia (C.C.) Téllez is a Bolivian distance runner and prominent advocate for LGBTQ civil rights. She openly identifies as a lesbian and hails from La Paz, Bolivia while currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Téllez is widely recognized for her significant contributions to the LGBTQ community and the running world. She is the founder of the Lez Run Running Club, serving as its Co-Race Director and co-founder of the Philadelphia Pride Run. Téllez is an ambassador for Athlete Ally, an organization dedicated to promoting inclusivity in sports, and she is the associate director of LGBTQ Programming for Students Run Philly Style. Her tireless efforts in both the athletic and advocacy spheres underscore her commitment to advancing LGBTQ rights and fostering a more inclusive society.
