Shah Alam is a city and the state capital of Selangor, Malaysia and situated within the Petaling District and a small portion of the neighbouring Klang District. Shah Alam replaced Kuala Lumpur as the capital city of the state of Selangor in 1978 due to Kuala Lumpur's incorporation into a Federal Territory in 1974. Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after independence from Britain in 1957.
Selangor, also known by the Arabic honorific Darul Ehsan, or "Abode of Sincerity", is one of the 13 states of Malaysia. It is on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is bordered by Perak to the north, Pahang to the east, Negeri Sembilan to the south, and the Strait of Malacca to the west. Selangor surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, both of which were previously part of it. Selangor has diverse tropical rainforests and an equatorial climate. The state's mountain ranges belong to the Titiwangsa Mountains, which is part of the Tenasserim Hills that covers southern Myanmar, southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia, with Mount Semangkok as the highest point in the state.
The Federal Territories in Malaysia comprise three territories—Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya—governed directly by the Federal Government of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is the national capital of Malaysia, Putrajaya is the administrative capital, and Labuan is an offshore international financial centre. Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are enclaves in the state of Selangor, while Labuan is an island off the coast of Sabah.

The Sabak Bernam District is a district and a parliamentary constituency in north-western Selangor, Malaysia. It covers an area of 997 square kilometres, and had a population of 103,153 at the 2010 Census. It is situated at the northwestern corner of Selangor. It is bordered by the state of Perak to the north, the district of Hulu Selangor to the east, the district of Kuala Selangor to the south, and the Straits of Malacca to the west. Bernam River forms its border with Perak. Towns in Sabak Bernam include Sabak, Sungai Besar and Sekinchan. This area is also famous for its residents of Javanese descent.
Sultan of Selangor is the title of the constitutional ruler of Selangor, Malaysia who is the head of state and head of the Islamic religion in Selangor. The current monarch, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah ascended the throne on the death of his father, on 22 November 2001.
Selangor Football Club, is a Malaysian professional football club based in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The club is currently competes in the Malaysia Super League, the top tier of Malaysian football. The club is nicknamed the Red Giants. Officially founded in 1936 by the Football Association of Selangor (FAS), the association built its football development as a result of a merger with the Selangor Association Football League and forming the professional football team known as Selangor. On 2 October 2020, the club officially made its privatization under a new entity as Selangor Football Club after it was officially approved by the Football Association of Malaysia on 29 September 2020. The club currently plays its home games at the Petaling Jaya Stadium after the club's original home ground, the Shah Alam Stadium, was closed to undergo major renovation and rebuilding work which was prolonged for an extended period of time.
Selangor Football Club Under 23 , commonly referred to as Selangor U-23, is a professional Malaysian football reserve team club of Selangor, based in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The club are nicknamed the Young Giants. Founded in 1967 as part of the sports and recreation club for the Selangor State Development Corporation. The club were formerly known as PKNS FC when the club was merged with the Football Association of Selangor, then converted into a reserve team under Selangor first team and were rebranded as Selangor II before later than known as a Selangor U-23. The club are currently playing in the MFL Cup and play their home games at UiTM Stadium with a 10,000-seater capacity.

Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 16th Menteri Besar of Selangor since June 2018, Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Tua since May 2018 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Gombak since November 2022. He served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administrations under former Menteri Besar Azmin Ali from September 2014 to his promotion to the Menteri Besarship in June 2018 as well as the MLA for Batu Caves from March 2008 to May 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH and formerly PR coalitions. He has also served as the Vice-President of PKR since July 2022 and State Chairman of PH of Selangor since March 2020 as well as of Pahang since September 2022.
