James Lutz (born March 31, 1998) [1] is an American compound archer. He became world champion in the men's individual compound event at the 2019 World Archery Championships held in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. [1] [2] He is the fifth compound archer from the United States to become world champion in this event. [2] [3] In the final, he defeated Anders Faugstad of Norway. [2]

In 2020, he finished in 26th place in the men's compound event at The Vegas Shoot held in Las Vegas, United States. [4]

In 2021, Lutz won the gold medal in the men's team event at the World Archery Championships held in Yankton, United States. [5] [6] He also competed in the men's individual compound and mixed team events. [6]

Lutz represented the United States at the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. [7] [8] He competed in the men's individual compound event. [8] He won two medals at the 2022 Pan American Archery Championships held in Santiago, Chile: the gold medal in the men's team event and the bronze medal in the mixed team event. [9]
