James Nixon (born 10 August 1985) is a former Scotland international rugby league footballer. He played on the wing for the Barrow Raiders in the Co-operative Championship. He represented Scotland at international level on three occasions in 2009. [4]
He was born in Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, England, he is of Scottish descent.
Nixon announced his retirement from the game before the beginning of the 2013 season, but returned later that year to play for amateur side Dalton. [5] He re-signed for Barrow ahead of the 2014 season. [6]
Nixon is seventh in Barrow's all time try scorers list with 137 tries. [5]
The York City Knights are an English professional rugby league club based in York. They played their home games at Huntington Stadium before moving to Bootham Crescent. In 2021 they moved to the newly built York Community Stadium the previos site of Huntington stadium, where they ground share with York City F.C. In the 2016 season they played in League 1. In 2018 the club succeeded in winning all their matches except two and were crowned league champions, earning immediate promotion to the Championship league. The current club was formed in 2002 after the original York club folded.
The Barrow Raiders are a semi-professional rugby league team in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The club was formed in 1875 as Barrow Football Club. For the 1995–96 and 1996 seasons the club was known as Barrow Braves, becoming the Barrow Border Raiders for the 1997 season following a merger with Carlisle Border Raiders, dropping the Border part of the name in 2002 to become the Barrow Raiders.
