James Alexander Robert McEwen Severn (born 10 October 1991) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper.
Born in Nottingham, Severn began his football career at his childhood team Derby County. He signed a professional contract at Derby in 2010. [3]
In October 2010, Severn was loaned out to Tamworth after Ross Atkins was recalled by Derby. [4] He made his first appearance against Rushden & Diamonds on 16 October in the Conference National. [5] He was recalled by Derby in November. [6]
On 22 February 2011, Severn made his Derby debut as a substitute in the 47th minute, replacing the injured Stephen Bywater in the 1–0 home defeat to Hull City in the Championship. [7] At the end of the 2010–11 season Derby confirmed they had taken up the option of an extra year on Severn's contract. [8]
On 12 August 2011, Derby confirmed that Severn would be loaned to Eastwood Town until 31 December. [9] He appeared 22 times for The Badgers of the Conference North, keeping only one clean sheet. Severn was given Derby's number 33 and became substitute goalkeeper when Adam Legzdins was loaned out to Burton Albion on 20 March 2012. At the end of the 2011–12 season, he was released by the club. [10]
After a successful trial, Severn joined League One side Scunthorpe United on a one-year contract on 17 May 2012. [11] He was second choice to Sam Slocombe, and made his debut on 29 September in a 2–1 loss at Portsmouth when Slocombe was injured in the 23rd minute; he saved a penalty from Brian Howard. [12] On 21 November, he re-joined Football Conference side Tamworth on loan for a month. [13]
On 24 October 2014, Severn joined Alfreton Town on loan for a month. [14] He injured his thigh in an FA Cup fourth qualifying match against Lincoln City, putting him on the sidelines for two months and leaving the Conference club with no goalkeeper for the replay. [15] On his return on 17 January 2015, he was the substitute after Slocombe broke his arm ten minutes into a 2–0 home loss to Bristol City, and suffered the same injury 32 minutes later. [16] [17]
After a short stint with Worcester City, Severn signed for Scottish Premiership club Ross County in October 2015. [17] He and Gary Woods were brought in as cover for the injured Scott Fox, with Woods first choice and Severn unused until his release in January 2016. [18]

The 2010–11 season was Derby County's 112th season in the Football League. It was their third consecutive season in the second tier following the previous campaign and their 43rd overall. The club entered the season with odds of 25/1 for the title, the same as the previous year, 6–1 to be promoted and 8–1 to be relegated. In the event of the season, after a slow start The Rams spent five fixtures in the play-off positions after a run of 8 wins from 11 fixtures before collapsing spectacularly post-November and recording just four wins from their remaining 28 fixtures, with Championship safety not guaranteed until the 44th fixture when, despite losing 3–2 at Norwich City other results left the bottom three unable to overtake them. The club's return of 49 points was the club's lowest ever return from a 46-game programme and was their lowest points total in the second tier since 1984, when they took just 42 points from 42 fixtures. The Derbyshire evening telegraph summed up the season as being one in which "with a few exceptions, (Derby) have competed in all the games and yet too often they have come out on the wrong end of the result having been the architects of their own downfall. Mistakes, individually and collectively, carelessness and a lack of concentration have all proved costly. As well as they have played in spells, notably in a wonderful purple patch earlier this season, the bottom line is that at other times they have not been good enough, as their position in the table indicates. That is why an influx of new faces is needed in this most important of summers to make sure they move forward next season."
Dale Roberts was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
David Bevan is an Irish footballer who most recently played for AFC Rushden & Diamonds as a goalkeeper. He began his career with Aston Villa in the Premier League, but left for League One side Walsall without making a first-team appearance at Villa Park. After a single season at Walsall, he dropped to non-league football. Bevan has also represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels.

In 2009, Siegrist was part of his nation's FIFA U-17 World Cup winning side, during which he also received the competition's inaugural Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper. During seven years in the Aston Villa Academy Siegrist undertook a series of short-term loans to English Football League and Conference sides. After a spell in the Swiss Super League with Vaduz, Siegrist signed for Scottish club Dundee United in 2018.
