Jan Maria Florent Wouters (born 14 July 1964) is a Belgian academic. He is Jean Monnet Chair,and Professor of International Law and International Organizations at KU Leuven,where he is also Director of its Centre for Global Governance Studies and Institute for International Law.
Wouters earned a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in 1984,and Lic. Juris in 1987,both at the University of Antwerp. In 1990 he obtained a Master of Laws at Yale Law School,and was visiting researcher at Harvard Law School (1990-1991). In 1996,he obtained a PhD in law at KU Leuven,with a doctoral thesis focused on the freedom of establishment of business enterprises within the European Union. [1]
Wouters teaches public international law,international organizations,the law of the World Trade Organization and humanitarian and security law at KU Leuven. [2] He is a visiting professor at the College of Europe (Bruges),SciencesPo (Paris) and LUISS University (Rome),where he teaches on the law of EU external relations. He also teaches in the Master of Laws in International Economic Law (IELPO) at the University of Barcelona and in the European Master's in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA,EIUC,Venice). He was Référendaire at the European Court of Justice (1991-1994). In addition,he practises law at Linklaters,Brussels.
In addition,he is Editor of the International Encyclopedia of Intergovernmental Organizations,and Deputy Director of the Revue Belge de Droit International. He regularly advises international organizations and trains international officials,and is coordinator of a large-scale FP7 Programme FRAME,"Fostering Human Rights Among European (External and Internal) Policies" and of the InBev-Baillet Latour EU China Chair at KU Leuven. The Treaty on European Union (2007) is one of the primary Treaties of the European Union,alongside the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). The TEU forms the basis of EU law,by setting out general principles of the EU's purpose,the governance of its central institutions,as well as the rules on external,foreign and security policy.
The Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) is the organised,agreed foreign policy of the European Union (EU) for mainly security and defence diplomacy and actions. CFSP deals only with a specific part of the EU's external relations,which domains include mainly Trade and Commercial Policy and other areas such as funding to third countries,etc. Decisions require unanimity among member states in the Council of the European Union,but once agreed,certain aspects can be further decided by qualified majority voting. Foreign policy is chaired and represented by the EU's High Representative,currently Josep Borrell.

Olivier De Schutter is a Belgian legal scholar specialising in economic and social rights. He served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food from 2008 to 2014. He is a Professor of international human rights law,European Union law and legal theory at the University of Louvain (UCLouvain) in Louvain-la-Neuve,Belgium,as well as at the College of Europe and at Sciences Po in Paris. He was a regular visiting professor at Columbia University between 2008 and 2012 and has regularly contributed to the American University Washington College of Law's Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. He is the first chair of the Belgian Advisory Council on Policy Coherence for Development and he co-chairs the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food),a group of experts from various disciplines and regions who work together towards developing proposals for food systems reform. A Member of the UN Committee on Economic,Social and Cultural Rights between 2015 and 2020,he was appointed the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights,and took up his functions on May 1,2020.

He is adjunct professor at American University and a former visiting lecturer at the University of Oxford. Between 1994 and 2015,he was affiliated as of counsel (practising) with international law firms,respectively SJ Berwin;Andersen Legal;Dibb,Lupton,Alsop;and DLA Piper. He now runs his own,independent legal practice. He was called to the bar in 1999.
Hans Emiel Aloysius Bruyninckx is a Belgian political scientist and international relations scholar specialized in international environmental governance and European environmental politics. He has headed the European Environment Agency since 2013. While in this position,he is on leave from his posts as Professor of International Relations and Global Environmental Governance,Institute for International and European Policy;and Director,Research Institute for Work and Society,both at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Conny Clara Aerts,born 26 January 1966,is a Belgian (Flemish) professor in astrophysics. She specialises in asteroseismology. She is associated with KU Leuven and Radboud University,where she leads the Chair in the Astroseismology group. In 2012,she became the first woman to be awarded the Francqui Prize in the category of Science &Technology. In 2022,she became the third woman to be awarded the Kavli Prize in Astrophysics for her work in asteroseismology.
Valeria Pulignano is an Italian-born sociologist,full Professor of Sociology at the University of Leuven,Belgium,and author of numerous publications on comparative industrial relations,labour markets and employment in Europe. She was formerly (2013–2017) scientific director of the Center for Social Sociological Research (CeSO) at KU Leuven. She is Specialty Chief Editor of the "Work,Employment and Organization" section of Frontiers in Sociology,co-coordinator of the RN17 Work,Employment and Industrial Relations at the European Sociological Association (ESA) and principal investigator of the ERC Advanced Grant Research Project “Revolving Precariousness:Advancing the Theory and Measurement of Precariousness Across the Paid/Unpaid Continuum”(ResPecTMe).
