Jani-Ayil, also known as Dzhangail is a small exclave of Uzbekistan, located in Batken province, which is fully surrounded by Kyrgyz territory. [1] [2] [3]
It is about 60 kilometres east of Batken and within 1 kilometer of the Uzbek main border. It measures only 2 to 3 kilometres across. [4] The estimate terrain elevation above the sea level is 873 metres. [5] The area of the exclave is less than one square kilometer. [6]
According to the estimated data of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, the population of the village at the beginning of 2023 was 971 people. [7]
