CD-200 or No. 200 was a Type D escort ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II.

History

She was laid down on 31 January 1945 at the Nagasaki shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the benefit of the Imperial Japanese Navy and launched on 19 March 1945. [2] [3] On 20 April 1945, she was completed and commissioned. [2] [3] On 17 May 1945, she struck a mine outside Miyazu harbor. [2] On 15 August 1945, Japan announced their unconditional surrender and she was turned over to the Allies in September 1945. [2] On 30 November 1945, she was struck from the Navy List and scrapped on 1 July 1948. [3]

Kaiyō was an escort carrier operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during World War II. The ship was originally built as the ocean liner Argentina Maru. She was purchased by the IJN on 9 December 1942, converted into an escort carrier, and renamed Kaiyō. The ship was primarily used as an aircraft transport, escort carrier and training ship during the war. She was badly damaged by repeated air attacks in July 1945 and was scrapped in 1946–48.

Type D escort ship

The Type D escort ships were a class of escort ships in the service of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. The Japanese called them "Type D" coast defence ships, and they were the sixth class of Kaibōkan, a name used to denote a multi-purpose vessel. 143 ships were ordered under the 1943-44 Programme, and a further 57 units were planned under the 1944-45 Programme, for an overal total of 200 ships. However only 67 were completed, with the remainder being cancelled.

She was laid down by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at their Kobe Shipyard on 10 April 1944, launched on 22 June 1944, and completed and commissioned on 31 July 1944. During the war CD-43 was mostly busy on escort duties.
