Jared Bidwell (born 13 July 1987 in Hamilton, Queensland) is an Australian rower. [1] He was a Queensland state representative in both sculling and sweep-oared boats and an Australian silver-medal winning representative at world championships.
Bidwell was educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School where he took up rowing. [2] His senior club rowing was done from the University of Queensland Boat Club.
His first state selection for Queensland came in 2006 as stroke of the youth eight competing for the Noel F Wilkinson Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. [3] In 2007 he again stroked the Queensland youth eight and they achieved a second place at the Interstate Regatta. In 2008 he was selected in the Queensland senior men's eight competing for the King's Cup. He raced in further Queensland King's Cupattempts in 2010, 2011 and 2012. [4] In those same years 2010 to 2012 he was also the Queensland single sculls representative racing for the President's Cup at the Interstate Regatta. [5]
In QUBC colours he contested national championship titles at the Australian Rowing Championships on numerous occasions including the open men's single and double sculls titles in 2009 and the singles sculls championships 2010 and 2012. [6]
Bidwell's Australian representative debut came in 2008 at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Brandenburg, Germany in a quad scull which placed fifth. [7]
At the 2009 World Rowing Championships in Poznań he finished 2nd in the men's quadruple sculls (M4x) event, along with Nick Hudson, David Crawshay, and Daniel Noonan. [8] In 2010 Bidwell raced in a double scull with Nick Hudson. They were well outside the final placings at two World Rowing Cups they contested in Europe that year but lifted for the 2010 World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro, made the A Final and finished in overall fifth place. That race would prove to be his last Australian world championship appearance. [7]
Bidwell raced a men's single scull at the World Rowing Cup III in 2011 and attempted to qualify a single scull at the last minute Olympic qualification regatta in May 2012. He was vying for a seat in the Australian crewed sculls for the 2012 London Olympics but missed selection and raced in a double scull with Scott Brennan at the World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne that year. He was a reserve for the 2012 Olympic heavyweight sculling squad. [7]
Tom Laurich is an Australian former rower – a junior world champion, a national champion, an Olympian and a medallist at World Championships. He has coached crews at the elite world class level.
Anthony John Edwards is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is a five time Olympian, triple Olympic medallist, a world champion and a six-time Australian national champion. He represented Australia at the premier world regattas consistently over a twenty-year period from 1993 to 2012.
David William Crawshay is an Australian former rower, an eleven-time national champion, an Olympic champion and medalist at World Championships. He represented Australia in rowing at three consecutive Olympic games from Athens 2004 to London 2012.

Nick Hudson is an Australian former rower. He was an U23 world champion, an Australian national champion and was a silver medallist at the 2009 World Championships.
Daniel Noonan is an Australian former representative rower. He was a national champion, a world champion, a dual Olympian and an Olympic medal winner.
Brendan Long is an Australian former representative rower. He twice represented at World Rowing Championships in a quad scull, is a dual Olympian and an Olympic record holder. He was an eight time Australian national champion in sculling boats and contested the national championship in the men's double scull every year from 1999 to 2009, winning that particular title on four occasions.
Hannah Every-Hall is an Australian former rower, a national champion, World Champion and Olympian.
Karsten Forsterling is an Australian former representative rower. He was a national champion, world champion, a dual Olympian and Olympic medal winner. He represented Australia at eight senior world rowing championships between 2002 and 2019 in both sculling and sweep oared boats.
Lauritz Schoof is a German rower. He was part of the German crew that won the gold medal in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He also successfully defended the quadruple sculls title at the 2016 Rio Olympics as part of the German team.
