The 2008 Summer Olympics were the Marshall Islands' first appearance at the Olympics. The delegation included five athletes, two in athletics, two in swimming, and one in taekwondo. The Marshall Islands failed to win an Olympic medal at these Games.
Bolivia sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China. The South American country's delegation was the fifteenth Summer Olympic team and seventeenth overall Olympic team overall sent by the country. Bolivia's National Olympic Committee sent seven athletes–three women and four men–across five sports and seven distinct events. A substantial number of the athletes originated in southern Bolivian cities, most notably Santa Cruz de la Sierra. All athletes except for cyclist Horacio Gallardo finished their events, although no medals were won by the country at these Games. Trap shooter César Menacho was the Bolivian flag bearer at the ceremonies.
The Cayman Islands sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The delegation included fifteen people; of the delegation, four athletes participated under the Caymanian flag. In the track and field events was Ronald Forbes, who also served as the Cayman Islands' flag-bearer during the Opening Ceremony and reached quarterfinals in the 110m hurdles, and Cydonie Mothersille, who reached finals and ranked eighth in the 200m dash. Brothers Shaune and Brett Fraser, both swimmers, participated in the 100 and 200m freestyle and in the 200m backstroke, respectively. The Cayman Islands' appearance at the Beijing Olympics marked its ninth appearance since its debut at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. The Cayman Islands, up to and including Beijing, have yet to medal.

Sebastian Stoss is an Austrian swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. He is a two-time Olympian, a multiple-time Austrian champion, and also, a current member of Eisenstädter Swimming Club, under his personal coach Andrzej Szarzynski.
Yekaterina Olegovna Rudenko is a Kazakh swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. She represented her nation Kazakhstan in two editions of the Olympic Games, finished fifth in the girls' 50 m backstroke at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore, and later captured two silver medals in the 50 and 100 m backstroke at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
Pavel Paulavich Sankovich is a Belarusian swimmer, who specialized in sprint backstroke and butterfly events. He represented his native Belarus in three editions of the Olympic Games, and has won a total of seven bronze medals in major international competition, in both the long and short course European Championships.
Christie Marie Bodden Baca is a Panamanian former swimmer who specializes in backstroke events. She has been selected to represent Panama at the 2008 Summer Olympics, placing among the top 48 swimmers in the women's 100 m backstroke.
Mohammed Rubel Rana is a Bangladeshi swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. He was one of the five athletes to represent Bangladesh at the 2008 Summer Olympics, rounding out the field of 45 swimmers in the men's 100 m backstroke.

José Emmanuel Crescimbeni Barrantes is an American-born competition swimmer who has represented Peru in international events, specializing in the butterfly. He represented his parents' homeland Peru at the 2008 Summer Olympics and has currently owned Peruvian records in both the 100 and 200 m butterfly. While residing in the United States, Crescimbeni claimed the 2007 Florida High School state championship title in his signature events, and later served as a member of the Florida Gators swimming and diving team under head coach Gregg Troy.
Sergey Pankov is an Uzbek swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and butterfly events. He won a bronze medal in the 200 m backstroke at the 2006 Asian Swimming Championships in Singapore, and had achieved an eighth-place finish in the same discipline at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.
Danil Bugakov is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke, freestyle and individual medley events. He won two medals for the 50 m backstroke at the Asian Swimming Championships. He is also the brother of freestyle swimmer and three-time Olympian Mariya Bugakova.
María Virginia Báez Franco is a Paraguayan swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. She has been selected to represent Paraguay at the 2008 Summer Olympics, placing among the top 48 swimmers in the women's 100 m backstroke.
Roland Rudolf is a Hungarian swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. He is an eight-time All-American swimmer, a multiple-time Hungarian titleholder in the age groups (1997–2004), and a two-time finalist at the 2002 European Junior Swimming Championships in Linz, Austria. Rudolf is also a member of the swimming team for the Florida Gators, and an economics graduate at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
Melissa Jane Corfe is a South African swimmer, who specialised in freestyle and backstroke events. She is a multiple-time South African champion and record holder for her respective events. Corfe represented her nation South Africa at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a total of five medals, including three golds in the women's freestyle, at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria. She also set two national records, as a member of the South African swimming team, in the freestyle and medley relays, at the 2008 FINA World Short Course Championships in Manchester, England.
Oleg Rabota is a Kazakh swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle and backstroke events. He represented his nation Kazakhstan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a silver medal in the 200 m freestyle at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games in Macau, China. Rabota also served as a member of the Southern Illinois Salukis swimming and diving team under head coach Rick Walker, while pursuing his sports management studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
Tomáš Fučík is a Czech former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and individual medley events. He represented his nation Czech Republic at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has owned multiple Czech championship titles and national records in both the 100 m backstroke and 200 m individual medley. Fucik was also member of the Jihlavsky Swimming Club, under the tutelage of his personal coach Markéta Kaplanova.
Sung Min is a South Korean former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. He represented South Korea in three editions of the Olympic Games, and held multiple national championship titles and swimming records in the relay freestyle and backstroke events. Sung had also won a total of five bronze medals, including one from the 50 m backstroke, at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, and at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
