Jaret von Rosenberg (born April 12, 1987) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the East Texas A&M Lions men's basketball team.

Playing career

von Rosenberg played high school basketball at Sharyland High School in Mission, Texas, before playing at Collin County Community College. [1] von Rosenberg would transfer and play college basketball at Hartford where he was the school's all-time leader in career free throw percentage (.831) and ranked in the top 10 in career assists and steals upon graduation. [2] [3]

Coaching career

von Rosenberg began his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant at Collin County Community College. In 2011, von Rosenberg was hired as an assistant coach under Joe Golding at Abilene Christian. He was hired under Sam Walker at Texas A&M–Commerce in 2013 before returning to his alma mater Hartford in 2015 as an assistant. [4]

In 2017, von Rosenberg was hired as head coach at Texas A&M–Commerce, replacing Sam Walker. [5] [6]

He was a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received a Masters of Education from Abilene Christian University where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998.

The East Texas A&M Lions football team is the college football program representing East Texas A&M University. The school competes in the Southland Conference (SLC) in Division I FCS of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Prior to joining the Southland, they competed in the Lone Star Conference of Division II. The East Texas A&M football team plays its home games at Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium on the university campus in Commerce, Texas. On December 16, 2017, East Texas A&M won its first NCAA Division II national championship, by defeating West Florida, 37–27, in Kansas City. The Lions recorded a perfect record in 1934, won the NAIA National Championship in 1972, and have amassed a total of 24 LSC conference championships since joining as a charter member in 1931. On September 28, 2021, the university accepted an invitation from the Southland Conference, moving the university's athletics programs up to the NCAA Division I level. This ended a 90-year affiliation with the Lone Star Conference, as East Texas A&M was the last founding member remaining.
