Crowell decided to run for the vacant Missouri's 8th congressional district after Republican incumbent Jo Ann Emerson decided to resign to become President of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Personal life

Crowell resides in Cape Girardeau with his wife Casey Nicole (Hertenstein) Crowell. Crowell is a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church. He is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. [ citation needed ]
