Jason Haldane (born 23 July 1971) is a Canadian former professional volleyball player. He played for the Canada men's national volleyball team between 1992 and 2004, representing Canada at the 1994, 1998, and 2002 FIVB World Championships. [1] In 2009, he switched to the Great Britain men's national volleyball team, competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics for Great Britain. [2]
Haldane's father was born in Great Britain, so Haldane held a British passport while playing in Europe. [3]
Haldane played volleyball at Grande Prairie Regional College from 1990 to 1992. [1]

Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly is an American volleyball player, coach, and broadcast announcer. He was a central part of the U.S National Team that won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He went on to win the gold medal again at the 1996 Olympic Games, the first Olympic competition to feature beach volleyball. He is the only player to have won Olympic medals of any color in both the indoor and beach volleyball categories. He played college volleyball for the UCLA Bruins, where his teams won three national championships under head coach Al Scates. Kiraly is widely regarded as the greatest male volleyball player of all time.

U Sports men's volleyball is the highest level of amateur play of men's indoor volleyball in Canada and operates under the auspices of U Sports. Thirty-one teams from Canadian universities are divided into three athletic conferences, drawing from the three of the four regional associations of U Sports: Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CW), Ontario University Athletics (OUA), and Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ). The Atlantic University Sport (AUS) formerly featured men's volleyball as a U Sports championship sport, but it was removed following the 2017–18 season. The 31 participating teams compete in a regular season and following intra-conference playoffs, eight teams are selected to play in a national tournament to compete for the U Sports men's volleyball championship.
