The Jawahar Circle is a garden traffic circle and heavily trafficked intersection in the city of Jaipur, India built by the Jaipur Development Authority.
Jawahar Circle is claimed to be the biggest circular park in Asia developed on a highway traffic circle. It is situated along Malviya Nagar near Sanganer Airport on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg.
Although Swaraj Road, Thrissur, Kerala also claims to be the largest circle in Asia, the largest traffic circle or roundabout in the world with a diameter of more than 3.5 km (2.2 mi) is actually in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The diameter of the circle is 452 m (1,483 ft) and the circumference measures 1,420 m (4,660 ft). This park was fully developed by JDA (Jaipur Development Authority), and is one of Jaipur's popular leisure destinations. There are multiple concentric tracks in the park. It is surrounded by Rose Gardens.
JDA has spent 170 lacs for the further development of this circle, planning to include a number of new features, such as musical fountains, walkways, parking spaces, landscaping, modern play equipment, and jogging tracks. [1]
The Fountain has been installed in a water-body in the center of the park. Every evening at 7 pm a show is held for 30 minutes, when the water sprays with the rhythm of the music and is illuminated by colored lights. Taking a hint from the Si-Fi world, they now show music videos on a wall of spray.
The radius of the water body is 47 m (154 ft). There are 290 effects. The height of the fountain is 25 m (82 ft). The water screen size is 27 m (89 ft) wide by 9 m (30 ft) high. There are 316 colored lights. The video projector is 15,000 lumens.
Rajasthan is a desert state, and to maintain such big gardens and fountains with drinking water would be foolhardy, so the government is using re-cycled water. Though safe for the garden, the fountain is definitely not safe for drinking or for bathing with.
Buckingham Fountain is a Chicago Landmark in the center of Grant Park, between Queen's Landing and the end of Ida B. Wells Drive. Dedicated in 1927 and donated to the city by philanthropist Kate S. Buckingham, it is one of the largest fountains in the world. The Dubai Fountains are a choreographed fountain system located on the 12 hectare artificial Burj Khalifa Lake, at the center of the Downtown Dubai development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by WET Design, a California-based company also responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors, it is 275 m (902 ft) long and shoots water up to 500 ft (152.4 m) into the air accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music. It was built at a cost of AED 800 million.
Bailey Fountain is an outdoor sculpture in New York City at the site of three 19th century fountains in Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, New York, United States. Renovated in 1956 and 2005-06, the 1932 fountain was funded by philanthropist Frank Bailey as a memorial to his wife Mary Louise Bailey. After 1974 thefts, some sculpture elements were stored for safekeeping. The bronze Art Deco design of the Bailey Fountain consists of six monumental figures beginning with the top two, a man representing Wisdom with his left hand on the tiller steering the ship of Life and a woman representing Felicity with her right hand holding a cornucopia. Below them are two other statues, one a chubby standing child helping to shoulder that cornucopia while the second is a laughing Greek mythological figure called Nereus who is the eldest son of Pontus the Sea and Gaia the Earth. To the sides of the fountain are the two remaining aquatic Nereides / sea nymph figures with upper torsos emerging from the water their heads back trumpeting with conch shells as their fish tails twist in the background.
