Jay Lyon (born Brent Tuhtan on 14 June 1984) is an Australian model and musician in the band Tamarama, and is also a reality TV star who appeared in The Hills and The City television series.

Career

Jay Lyon started off his career as a model and is a member of the band Tamarama, which take their name from the well-known beachside Sydney Eastern Suburbs area of Tamarama, New South Wales, in Australia. [1] They get their influences from beachside folk-pop artists such as Jack Johnson and G. Love & Special Sauce, along with fellow member Nicolas Pottsy Potts the band released their first Album/EP, Wonderland City on 7 May 2008, named after the Wonderland City amusement park in Sydney, [2] and on 1 June 2010 they released their first full album titled Tamarama on label Universal/Motown. [3]

In 2008 Lyon appeared in the American MTV teen series, The Hills, and shortly afterwards followed that up by appearing in the MTV spin-off series, The City, playing the part of Whitney Port's boyfriend, with whom he was having a relationship with in real life.

In 2014 Lyon co-founded the Original Meatball Company with Dominic Lopresti, a restaurant specializing in meatballs inspired by Lyon's experiences in New York. From February 2015 to February 2017 Lyon operated a recruitment business, Lyon Recruitment. [4] Lyon Recruitment provided Labour Market Testing services to immigrants to Australia to obtain skilled work visas. Jay Lyon also worked as a paralegal at Perez Varela Lawyers during these years.

In 2016 to present, Lyon is a partner in a production company with long time friend and internationally acclaimed artist and photographer Nick Leary. The company named The Aesthetic create visual assets for luxury brands and property developments. Their most recent work being for Australia's most prestigious residential property development One Circular Quay.

Personal life

In 2003 Jay Lyon dated Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr. The couple were together for 4 years before ending their relationship in 2007.

In 2008, he started a relationship with American reality TV star Whitney Port, and starred on the TV series The Hills and The City alongside her, before he cheated on her and subsequently ditched her to go tour with his band in 2009. [5] [6] Growing up he was a student at the exclusive St Aloysius' College in Kirribilli, Sydney.

The first season of The City premiered on December 29, 2008 and concluded on March 16, 2009. It followed Whitney Port's move to New York City after leaving Los Angeles as she followed her dream job. Instead of ordering a complete second season for The City MTV ordered 10 extra episodes to Season 1, which began on September 29, 2009 and completed on December 1, 2009. On The Hills/The City Aftershow that night, Port confirmed the show was renewed for a second season. Part I was filmed from August 2008 to February 2009, while Part II was filmed from April to September 2009.

Anna Bamford is an Australian television and theatre actress. She won the role of Miranda Beaumont in Wonderland shortly after graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2012. For her performance, Bamford earned a nomination for the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer. After Wonderland was cancelled in 2015, Bamford made her major theatre debut in a production of Freak Winds. Later that year, she began appearing in Andrew Upton's production of The Present, which later transferred to Broadway. In 2016, Bamford joined the cast of Home and Away in the recurring role of Jeannie Woods.
