Jason ("Jay") Lyon (born 24 May 1986 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is an archer from Canada. He was a member of the Canadian National archery team who has competed in the 2004 World Junior Archery Championships, 2005 World Senior Archery Championships, the 2007 World Senior Archery Championships, the 2007 Pan-American Games and many other events.
At the 2007 World Championships Lyon was a member of Team Canada (along with Crispin Duenas and Hugh MacDonald) who won three Olympic Team spots, placing eighth in the Team Round. Canada had not qualified a full archery team at the Olympics since 1996.
Lyon held the FITA 1440 record at 1345, a score that is considered a landmark in recurve archery. He was the first and only Canadian recurve archer to hold this title.
Lyon was also a member of the silver medal-winning team at the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro where they set the Pan-American Games Record with a 224. Lyon finished fourth at the Pan-American Games, losing the bronze to Vic Wunderle (USA) 109–114. On his way to the bronze match Lyon set and broke the Pan-American Games' 12-arrow match-play record, going 114–105 against Pablo Daniel Basgall (ARG), 115–107 against Jorge Pablo Chapoy (MEX) and 116–112 against Eduardo Luis Vélez (MEX). He then shot 109–114 against Juan Carlos Stevens (CUB) and 109–114 against Vic Wunderle (USA) to finish fourth.

Lyon won the Canadian Olympic Trials and represented Canada at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He finished his ranking round with a total of 646 points, which gave him the 47th seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Chinese home favourite Xue Haifeng in the first round. Lyon won the game 111–106 and met Brady Ellison in the second round, which he won by 113–107. In the third round Lyon was unable to win against Bair Badënov from Russia (115–110), who eventually won the bronze medal. [1] This did however make Jason the highest ranking Canadian to ever finish in an Olympic Archery event (finishing 10th individual) and he still holds the top Canadian Archer spot.
Together with John-David Burnes and Crispin Duenas he also took part in the team event. With his 646 score from the ranking round combined with the 644 of Burnes and the 664 of Duenas, the Canadians were in 11th position after the ranking round. In the first round they were beaten by the Italian team 219–217. They went on to reach the final and win the silver medal. [1]
In 2010 Jay Lyon won a silver medal in the individual event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. He lost in the gold medal finals to India's Rahul Banarjee 6 to 5 in the set system. In the previous match he defeated Rahul's teammate, Jayanta Talukdar, 6 to 0.
In the 2011 season, at the World Championships in Italy, Jay shot an impressive ranking score of 1350 and ranked eighth. He finished fifth in the matchplay and win Canada an Olympic Quota placing.
Jay Lyon was the only Canadian to have achieved the 1350 benchmark score, it took significant efforts since, but Lyon was barely bested.
During the end of the 2011 archery season, he added archery legend Jay Barrs to his support team. Barrs is currently Lyon's personal coach and the two continued working together leading into the 2016 Olympic Games.
Lyon is also a student at the University of Winnipeg where he is studying kinesiology. In his off time he enjoys working out or playing other sports. His favorite sport, is ice hockey. He is an avid Winnipeg Jets fan. [2]
Richard Andrew "Butch" Johnson is an American archer. He has competed in the Summer Olympics five times, and was a part of the gold medal U.S. team at the 1996 Olympics and the bronze medal U.S. team in the 2000 Olympics.
Marie-Pier Beaudet is a former Canadian archer who competed at three Summer Olympic Games between 2004 and 2012. Beaudet made her international debut in 2002, and in addition to the Olympic Games has contested the Pan American Games, in which she won a silver medal in 2007, and the Commonwealth Games, in which she earned a bronze medal in 2010.

Archery had its debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 17 Olympiads. 105 nations have competed in the Olympic archery events, with France appearing the most often at 15 times. The most noticeable trend has been the excellence of South Korean archers, who have won 27 out of 39 gold medals in events since 1984. It is governed by the World Archery Federation. Recurve archery is the only discipline of archery featured at the Olympic Games. Archery is also an event at the Summer Paralympics.
Jayanta Talukdar is an Indian archer from Assam. He has won individual gold Medal in the 2006 Archery World Cup.
Mauro Nespoli is an Italian archer who was a member of the Italian teams that won gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics and silver at the 2008 Summer Olympics. and individual silver at Tokyo 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Bombayla Devi Laishram is an Indian archer. A member of the national recurve team representing India at the international events since 2007, she has won a silver medal at the World Archery Championships, and four gold, five silver, and four bronze medals at various editions of the Archery World Cup. Laishram peaked at no. 14 in the world rankings in March 2009.

Brady Ellison is an American archer who competes in recurve archery. He holds the record for the longest continuous period as the world number-one-ranked men's recurve archer, from August 2011 to April 2013. He earned his nickname "The Prospector" during the 2015 world championships due to his proclivity for 'finding gold'.
The archery events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held over an eight-day period from 27 July to 3 August. Four events took place, all being staged at Lord's Cricket Ground in front of temporary stands built to accommodate up to 6,500 spectators.
The girls' individual archery event at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 18 to 20 August 2010 at the Kallang Field in Kallang, Singapore. It was one of three recurve archery events which comprised the archery programme at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics, and featured thirty-one archers from thirty-one countries. Entry was open to female archers born between 1 January 1992 and 31 December 1993.
The women's recurve individual archery event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was a competition held as part of the archery programme at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi, India, from 4 October to 10 October 2010. It was the second time that the recurve individual event for women had been included in the Commonwealth Games and the first time it had been contested since the 1982 Games in Brisbane, Australia.
Amy Oliver is an archer from Great Britain. A competitor at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, a bronze medal at the 2011 World Archery Championships, and was the women's individual recurve champion at the World Field Archery Championships in 2016. Oliver announced her retirement from the British national archery team in 2017.

Marcus Vinicius Carvalho Lopes D'Almeida, known as Marcus D'Almeida, is a Brazilian athlete who competes in recurve archery. In February 2023, he became the first Brazilian to lead the world archery ranking in his category, the recurve bow.
Georcy-Stéphanie Thiffeault Picard is a Canadian competitive archer from Montreal, Quebec. She attained a top-ten finish as a member of the Canadian archery squad in both the individual and team recurve at the 2015 Pan American Games, and eventually competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics, losing her first round match to Chinese Taipei's team bronze medalist and world-ranked archer Tan Ya-ting. Picard currently trains under the tutelage of her coach Sylvain Cadieux at the Montreal Archery Club.
Eric Lingfeng Peters is a Canadian recurve archer. He won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima as part of the team competition alongside teammates Crispin Duenas and Brian Maxwell. Peters also won a bronze in the individual event in Lima, upsetting world record holder Brady Ellison in the quarterfinals. Eric Peters won silver medal in 2023 World Archery Championships where he lost to Mete Gazoz by 6-4 score in Berlin.
Casey Kaufhold is an American archer competing in women's recurve events. She won the silver medal in the women's individual event at the 2021 World Archery Championships held in Yankton, United States. She competed in the women's individual and women's team events at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
Stephanie Barrett is a Canadian archer. Barrett took up the sport at 37, and has been practising the sport since a few weeks before the 2016 Summer Olympics.
