The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu and union territory of Puducherry. AIADMK is a dravidian party founded by M. G. Ramachandran (MGR) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam due to the personal issues.
Maruthur Gopala Menon Ramachandran, popularly known as M. G. R., was an Indian politician and film actor who served as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu between 1977 and 1987. MGR was the founder of ADMK and mentor of Jayalalitha. In 1988, M.G.R. was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, posthumously.
Ottakarathevar Panneerselvam Popularly Known as O.P.S. is an Indian politician who served as the 6th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for 3 terms from 2001 -2002, 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 and the 2nd Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 21 August 2017 to 6 May 2021. Suryagandhi (transl. Sunflower) is a 1973 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Muktha Srinivasan. It stars Jayalalithaa in the lead role, opposite Muthuraman and the supporting cast included Savithri, Cho Ramaswamy, Moulee, CID Shakuntala and Manorama in the lead roles. The film was digitised and re-released on 16 September 2016. The film was remade in Malayalam as Priyamvada, in Telugu as Moguda Pellama and in Kannada as Hennu Samsaradha Kannu. Kamal Haasan worked under Thangappan as his dance assistant in this movie.
Jayaram Jayalalithaa was an Indian politician and film actress who served six times as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for fifteen years between 1991 and 2016. From 9 February 1989, she was the general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a Dravidian party whose cadre revered her as their "Amma" (mother) and "Puratchi Thalaivi". Her critics in the media and the opposition accused her of fostering a personality cult and of demanding absolute loyalty from AIADMK legislators and ministers, who often publicly prostrated themselves before her.
Vivekanandan Krishnaveni Sasikala, also known by her married name Sasikala Natarajan, is an Indian businesswoman and former politician who served as the national president of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) from Tamil Nadu. She was a close aide of J. Jayalalithaa, the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who headed the AIADMK from 1989 until her death in 2016. After Jayalalithaa's death, the party's general council elected her as the secretary general of AIADMK, but she was removed from the post and expelled from the party in September 2017. She is the aunt of T.T.V. Dhinakaran, together with whom she formed the Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam (AMMK) in 2018 after her expulsion. She was appointed as the president and Dhinakaran the general secretary.
Neenga Nalla Irukkanum is a 1992 Tamil-language film written and directed by Visu. It stars Nizhalgal Ravi and Bhanupriya in the lead with Visu, Chandrasekhar and Manorama forming the supporting cast. Produced by G. Venkateswaran under his banner G. V. Films, the film won the award for Best Film on Other Social Issues at the 40th National Film Awards. The film was the first to be sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Government and had Jayalalithaa, its Chief Minister then, in a brief appearance playing herself.
Yarukkum Vetkam Illai is a 1975 Tamil language film, directed by Cho Ramaswamy. It stars Jayalalithaa in the lead role, opposite Srikanth, supported by Cho Ramaswamy, Manorama and Sivakumar. This film was based on the book by the same name and later a play written by Cho Ramaswamy. It became a blockbuster on its release. The songs sung by Yesudas became popular. The lyrics of one of the song in the film praised the character played by Jayalalithaa as Puratchi Thalaivi, even before she entered into politics.

An adaptation of Anita Sivakumaran's novel of the same name, which is loosely based on the life of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, the script was written by Ghatala, with Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan, jointly directing the series.
