Jaylen MarQuiese Reed (born January 29, 2003) [1] is an American professional football safety for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions and was selected by the Texans in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft.
Reed attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, Michigan. He committed to Penn State University to play college football. [2] [3]
As a true freshman at Penn State in 2021, Reed played in eight games and had six tackles. As a sophomore in 2022, he played in all 13 games and had 31 tackles. [4] Reed started all 13 games as a junior in 2023 and finished with 46 tackles, two interceptions and one sack. [5] He returned as a starter his senior year in 2024. [6] [7] [8]
On January 13, 2025, Reed declared for the 2025 NFL draft. [9]
