Jean-Marc Ithier (born 15 July 1965 in Rodrigues) is a retired Mauritian footballer. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] Besides Mauritius, he has played in South Africa. [18]
Ithier joined South Africa Premier Soccer League club Engen Santos from the Mauritian club Sunrise Flacq United in 1999, and played for the People's Team until his retirement in 2006. With approximately 70 goals, he is also the club's all-time leading goal-scorer.[ citation needed ]
Ithier was appointed Engen Santos' caretaker coach after the departure of head coach Roger De Sa, who joined Bidvest Wits after the 06/07 season but was later replaced by David Bright of Botswana. Ithier became an assistant to the club's current head coach, Boebie Solomons. In 2011, Ithier left the club to venture into his own project after deciding to open a football academy that will help develop young talented footballers. [19]
His club, J.M.I. is now in the Cape Town Tygerberg Under 14 seventh division. JMI are currently 1 point behind Sunningdale FC's C team who are in first although JMI does have a game in hand. His club also has an U7, U9, U12, U14 and first team. The U14 team currently has 26 players and is coached by him and two others. The U14s have currently played 15 games and have won them all except one against the previously mentioned Sunningdale FC which they drew. They have scored 94 goals, conceded 21 and have a goal difference of 73. Their next match is against Botasig D which they previously beat 14-1. (All information is accurate as of 29 Aug 2024)
