Jeeva Shankar is a cinematographer turned writer, director active in Tamil films. His prominent films include Naan and Amara Kaaviyam.
In 2013, he started an untitled project [1] for Escape Artist Motion Pictures. Jeeva Shankar's next project is Yeman. [2]
He started his career as an assistant cinematographer to Jeeva. His debut film Naan was initially launched in 2008, with Siddharth Venugopal portraying the lead role with Rukmini Vijayakumar playing the lead female role, however due to the failure of his previous film Ananda Thandavam , the producer Oscar Ravichandran called off the project. [3] The film restarted with Vijay Antony's intervention in December 2010 who also took the lead role from Siddharth Venugopal. The film received positive reviews from critics and did well at box-office. [4]
Following the critical and commercial success of his previous project Naan, director Jeeva Shankar wrote a new script titled Amara Kaaviyam, a college love story set in the 1980s. [5] Madhan of Escape Artistes Motion Pictures was to produce the film, while Yuvan Shankar Raja was announced as the music composer. [6] Adharvaa was announced to play the lead role but consequently opted out during pre-production stages, and the production house dropped the film. [7]
Jeeva Shankar replaced him with Sathya in September 2013 with Sathya's brother, Arya producing the film under his production house, The Show People. [8] [9] Malayalam actress Miya was signed to play the female lead role, making her debut in Tamil films. The film began production in October 2013 in Ooty, with costume designer Sai preparing clothes for the film's 1980s backdrop. [10] However, the film received negative reviews and went unnoticed.

The film's soundtrack, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, was released on 14 February 2009, coinciding with Valentine's Day.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is an unreleased Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by newcomer Milind Rau that stars debutante Sathya, brother of Tamil actor Arya, and Ramya, whilst, Jayashree, Nagendra Prasad, Kasthuri and Anuja Iyer play pivotal roles. Noted film critic Baradwaj Rangan had written the dialogues, while Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's score and soundtrack. The cinematography and editing were handled by P. S. Vinod and Leo John Paul, respectively. Pre-production works began by mid-2008, while the filming continued for over one year, being completed by July 2010. The film was jointly produced by Mirchi Movies and East Coast Entertainment, who are now not in the film-making business. Hence the movie remains unreleased.
Naan Mahaan Alla is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by Suseenthiran and produced by Studio Green. It stars Karthi, Kajal Aggarwal, Jayaprakash and Soori. The music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with cinematography handled by R. Madhi and editing by Kasi Viswanathan. Set in Chennai, Jeeva is an unemployed carefree young man whose father becomes the target of a gang of young criminals after witnessing a kidnapping.

Wilson, and editing by Suresh Urs. Set in the backdrops of Theni, Avan Ivan illustrates the relationship between two boisterously playful half-brothers. According to Eros International, it was successful at the box office.

The film was followed by a sequel titled Salim, an action thriller that released in 2014. The plot of the film is loosely based on 1999 American film The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Co-produced by Lyca Productions and Vijay Antony Film Corporation, the film stars Vijay Antony in a dual role as father and son, alongside Miya, while Thiagarajan portrays another pivotal character. The film, which features Jeeva Shankar and Vijay Antony doubling up as the cinematographer and the music composer respectively, was released. The movie was a commercial success.
