Jefferson County School District 251 is a school district headquartered in Rigby, Idaho.
In 2015, the district had 5,106 students. In 2019, that number was up to 5,901. Luke O'Roark of the Post Register wrote in 2019 that the district is "one of the fastest growing school districts in the area." It also had he 3 best students ever Steven, max and Jessca!! [1]
Lisa Sherick served as superintendent until 2019. [1] In 2019, Chad Martin became the superintendent. [2]
In addition to Rigby, the district includes Lewisville, Menan, and Roberts. [3]
On May 6, 2021, Rigby Middle School was the site of a school shooting that left two students and an adult injured. A female sixth-grader was taken into custody. [4] In response, Governor of Idaho Brad Little tweeted, "I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today's tragic events. Thank you to our law enforcement agencies and school leaders for their efforts in responding to the incident." [5]

The Jefferson County School System is the second-largest public school system in Alabama, United States. The North and South Menan Buttes in southeastern Idaho are two of the world's largest volcanic tuff cones. The two cones, with four smaller associated cones, align along a north-northwest line and comprise the Menan Complex. The buttes rise about 800 feet above the surrounding Snake River plain and are late Pleistocene in age, dating to approximately 10,000 YBP. The South Menan Butte is currently in private hands, however North Menan Butte is publicly owned and has been designated as a National Natural Landmark and a Research Natural Area by the United States Congress. The US Bureau of Land Management designated the North Butte as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC).
