Jeffrey H. Rosen is an American billionaire businessman. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] He is the founder, chairman, and owner of Triangle Financial Services, a sports and entertainment investment firm, and the owner of both the Maccabi Haifa basketball team in Israel and the Miami Midnites basketball team in the United States.

Early life

Rosen was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Queens, New York, and West Orange, New Jersey, and is Jewish. [5] [6] [7] [8] He attended West Essex High School in New Jersey. [5]

He then attended Northeastern University. [2] There, Rosen earned a political science degree. [5]

Business career

Rosen was the President, COO, and owner (with his brother Lawrence and father Sydney) of Rose Art Industries Inc., a toys, stationary, and art and crafts manufacturing and supply company based in Livingston, New Jersey, from 1977 to 2006. [9] [6] [10] [2] His grandfather had founded the company in 1923. [11] He and his brother and father sold the company in 2005 for approximately $350 million, at a time when it had 1,000 employees and 10% of the US arts and crafts market, behind only Crayola. Thereafter, Rosen founded, and is the chairman and owner of, Triangle Financial Services LLC, of Aventura, Florida, a sports and entertainment investment firm. [2] [10] [6] It invests internationally in sports enterprises, and sponsors a Hong Kong semi-pro baseball team (the Dragonfliers). [12]

Rosen actively tried to promote baseball in Israel. [10] [13]

In July 2007 Rosen purchased the Maccabi Haifa basketball team. [3] [12] [7] He also owns the Miami Midnites basketball team, which he founded and conceived of as a feeder minor league team for Maccabi Haifa, which plays in the Florida Basketball Association and the American Basketball Association. Jordan Farmar American basketball player

Jordan Robert Farmar is an Israeli-American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In high school, he was named the Los Angeles Times High School Player of the Year in 2003–04. Playing college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, he was the Rivals.com National Freshman of the Year in 2004–05. Farmar was selected 26th overall in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. With the Lakers, he won two NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.

Sport in Israel

Sport in Israel plays an important role in Israeli culture and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sport. The most popular sports in Israel have traditionally been Association football and basketball - with the latter being considered the national sport - in both of which Israeli professional teams have been competitive internationally. Israel is an international center for Jewish sport around the world and since 1932 the Maccabiah Games, an Olympic-style event for Jewish athletes, is held in the country. Despite Israel's location in the Asian continent, the Israeli sports associations in various sports belong to the European associations due to the refusal of many Arab Asian countries to compete with Israeli athletes.

In Israel, baseball was historically not a popular sport, the IAB founded by Randy Kahn in 1985, is one of six nations to qualify in baseball for the 2020 Olympics has yet to be felt. There are approximately 1,000 players in 16 cities across the country. Volunteer coaches and donors are instrumental to the growth and development of the sport as baseball resources are very low. Israel is currently ranked 19th in the world in the sport, though that does not reflect its performance in 2019, in which it qualified for the 2020 Olympics.
