An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally,most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists. Some wicket-keepers have the skills of a specialist batsman and have been referred to as all-rounders,but the term wicket-keeper-batsman is more commonly applied to them,even if they are substitute wicket keepers who also bowl.
Women's Test cricket is the longest format of women's cricket and is the female equivalent to men's Test cricket. Matches comprise four-innings and are held over a maximum of four days between two of the leading cricketing nations. Dale Willem Steyn is a South African former professional cricketer who played for the South African Cricket Team. During the 2007–08 season,Steyn achieved a tally of 78 wickets at an average of 16.24,and was subsequently rewarded with the ICC 2008 Test Cricketer of the Year Award. He was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2013,and Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for the year 2013 in 2014's Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. He was featured in Wisden Cricketers of the Decade at the end of 2019. He also was included in the ICC Test Team of the Decade at the end of 2020.
Danévan Niekerk is a South African cricketer born in Pretoria and educated at Centurion High School. A leg spin bowler,she has appearances in Test,One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) representing South Africa and is the women's team captain in all three forms since June 2016. She was the first bowler for South Africa to take 100 wickets in WODIs.
Leah Joy Poulton is an Australian former cricketer who played for New South Wales and Australia. She played as a specialist batter who usually opened the batting.
Cri-Zelda Brits,also written Crizelda Brits and Cri-zelda Brits is a South African cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler,Brits was originally called up to the South Africa national women's cricket team as an opening bowler in 2002. She developed into an all-rounder,and since 2005 has established herself as a specialist batsman. She captained South Africa in 23 matches in 2007 and 2008,but was replaced as captain in 2009 in order to "concentrate entirely on her own performance." She was reappointed as captain for the 2010 ICC Women's World Twenty20. Between 2007 and 2011 she captain South Africa a total of 36 times.
Yvonne van Mentz is a South African former cricketer who played as an all-rounder. She appeared in four Test matches for South Africa in 1960 and 1961,all against England. She scored South African's first century in Women's Test cricket,with 105* in the fourth Test of the series. She played domestic cricket for Southern Transvaal and Natal.
Lorna Grace Ward is a former South Africa Test cricketer. She is South Africa's leading wicket-taker in women's Test cricket,having claimed 27 wickets in her seven Test appearances,and taking five-wicket hauls on three occasions. She played in South Africa's first match in Test cricket at St George's Park. Ward represented Eastern Province,Natal and Southern Transvaal at provincial cricket.
Audrey Wood is a South African former cricketer who played as a right-arm pace bowler. She appeared in two Test matches for South Africa in 1960 and 1961,both against England,and took South Africa's first ever Women's Test wicket. She played domestic cricket for Eastern Province,making her debut at age 12.
Jean Fay Field is a former Southern Transvaal and South Africa Test cricketer. A right-arm medium-fast bowler and tail-end right-handed batsman,McNaughton made three Test appearances for her country. She was the first South African woman to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match.
The South African cricket team toured India during the 1996–97 cricket season,playing three Test matches and one One Day International (ODI). The tour was South Africa's second international cricket series in India,following a visit in 1991–92,and included their first Test appearances against India on the subcontinent. India had previously toured South Africa in 1992–93,losing the Test series 0–1.
The South Africa women's cricket team toured England in the 2018 cricket season,playing three Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) against the England women's cricket team,followed by a tri-series which also featured New Zealand. The WODI series formed part of the 2017–2020 ICC Women's Championship,which determined qualification for the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup. England were captained by Heather Knight,while South Africa were led by Dane van Niekerk.
