Jessica Weintraub (born 20 March 2007) is an Australian Olympic rhythmic gymnast. [1] She represents Australia in international competitions. She competed for Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women's rhythmic group all-around at the Adidas Arena on 9-10 August.
Weintraub was born in East St Kilda, Australia, and is Jewish. [1] [2] She and her family relocated from Melbourne to Brisbane, Australia, when she was 14. [3] She attends Brisbane State High School. [4]
Weintraub trained at Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics when she was a junior. [5] Her family relocated so that Weintraub could join Aspire Gymnastics Academy to pursue her career in rhythmic gymnastics. At first she was focused in being successful as an individual gymnast, winning medals at nationals. [3] Weintraub is coached by Iuliia Iakovleva and Tania Belan. [4]
Weintraub began competing with the Aspire Gymnastics Academy rhythmic gymnastics group in 2023. [6] The group placed fifth in the all-around at the 2023 Tashkent World Cup. [7] Additionally, they finished seventh in the 5 hoops final and sixth in the 3 ribbons + 2 balls final. [8] They won a silver medal in the group all-around at the Australian Championships. The Aspire group was not selected for the 2023 World Championships, and their appeal to the National Sports Tribunal was dismissed. [9]
Weintraub and the Aspire group won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the 2024 Aphrodite Cup. [10] In May they won two golds and one silver at the Sofia International Tournament, getting the chance to compete at the continental championships. [11]
The Oceanian Championships were held in Budapest along the European ones. There Weintraub, Phoebe Learmont, Liidia Iakovleva, Emmanouela Frroku and Saskia Broedelet won gold in the All-Around, thus earning the chance to represent Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. [12]
Weintraub will compete for Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women's rhythmic group all-around at the Adidas Arena on 9-10 August, at 17 years of age. [13]
Linoy Ashram is a retired Israeli individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic All-around Champion, the 2018 World All-around silver medalist, two-time World All-around bronze medalist, the 2020 European All-around champion, and the 2019 European Games All-around silver medalist. She is the third Israeli athlete and first Israeli woman to win an Olympic gold medal in any sport, and the first Israeli rhythmic gymnast to win an Olympic medal. She became the first rhythmic gymnast from outside a post-Soviet republic to win a gold medal at an Olympics where former Soviet states participated.
Shu Siyao is a Chinese rhythmic gymnast. She won a gold medal at the 2014 World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary. She competed in the group rhythmic gymnastics competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where the team was eliminated in the qualification round. After the Rio Olympics in 2016, Shu Siyao chose to retire and became a rhythmic gymnast. She took up the sport at age six in the Sichuan province, China.
Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva is an Australian rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games clubs champion, team silver medallist, and all-around bronze medallist. She also won two bronze medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is a four-time Australian all-around champion. She won five bronze medals at the 2022 Maccabiah Games and has competed at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships five times.
Ekaterina Olegovna Vedeneeva is a Russian-born Slovenian individual rhythmic gymnast.
Sofia Raffaeli is an Italian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 OIympic bronze medalist, 2022 World all-around, hoop, ball, ribbon and team champion, the 2023 World all-around, hoop and ball silver medalist, the 2023 European silver all-around medalist, and the 2024 European all-around silver medalist. She is the first Italian individual rhythmic gymnast to win a gold medal at the World Championships, European Championships and World Games, and she has won seven all-around gold medals in the FIG World Cup circuit. She is the first Italian individual rhythmic gymnast to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
Viktoriia Maksimivna Onopriienko is a Ukrainian individual rhythmic gymnast. She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing tenth in the all-around final. She is the 2020 Grand Prix Final all-around champion and the 2022 World Games ribbon bronze medalist. At the junior level, she is the 2018 European team silver medalist.
Daria Atamanov is an Israeli individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 European all-around Champion, and the 2023 World Championship all-around bronze medalist. She is also the 2022 European Championship silver medalist in hoop, clubs, ribbon, and the team bronze medalist. On a national level, she is the 2022 & 2024 Israeli National all-around champion and a two-time Israeli Junior National all-around champion. Atamanov represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women's rhythmic individual all-around, and came in fifth in her first Olympics.
Polina Berezina Ksenofontova is an individual rhythmic gymnast. Born in Russia, she represents Spain internationally. She has competed at seven Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships and won a bronze medal with the Spanish team in 2022. She is a five-time Spanish national all-around champion at the senior level. She competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in women's rhythmic individual all-around and placed 15th, cutoff from the finals.
Fanni Pigniczki is a Hungarian rhythmic gymnast. She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Lidiia Anatolyevna Iakovleva is a Russian-born Australian rhythmic gymnast who represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the individual all-around. She represented Australia at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and won a bronze medal in the mixed multi-discipline team event. She won a silver medal in the team event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She will compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics as part of Australia's rhythmic gymnastics group.
Takhmina Ikromova is an Uzbekistani rhythmic gymnast. She is an Asian Games champion individually and in the team event, and she is also a two-time all-around champion at the Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, in 2022 and 2023. She competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the rhythmic individual all-around.
Darja Varfolomeev is a Russian-born German rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 Olympic all-around and 2023 World all-around gold medalist and the 2022 World all-around silver medalist. In 2024 she became the 2024 European all-around bronze medalist. At the national level, she is a two-time national all-around champion as well a two-time all-around junior champion.
Elzhana Taniyeva is a Kazakh rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 Asian all-around champion and will represent Kazakhstan at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She is the 2022 Asian Games all-around and team silver medalist. She won three medals at the 2021 Summer World University Games and four medals at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games. She is competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics in Women's rhythmic individual all-around.
Wang Zilu is a Chinese rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2023 Asian Championships all-around, hoop, and team bronze medalist and a 2022 Asian Games team bronze medalist. She is representing China at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Women's rhythmic individual all-around, and qualified for the final; her performance resulted in 7th place in the individual AA.
