Jiang Hongkun

Jiang Hongkun (Chinese :蒋宏坤; born January 1954) is a Chinese politician best known for his term as the mayor of Nanjing, the Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary of Suzhou, and a member of the Jiangsu provincial Party Standing Committee.

Biography

Jiang Hongkun was born in Shazhou County, Jiangsu province, in 1956. He worked as a manual labourer at a rural commune, where he later took on leadership and administrative roles. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1976, at the end of the Cultural Revolution. After the Cultural Revolution, he joined the diesel engine factory in Shazhou County, where he served as a shop floor worker, before being promoted to leadership and administrative roles. In January 1985, he became a manager at the Shazhou Engines Company.[ citation needed ]

In June 1986, he became head of the international trade commission of the city of Zhangjiagang. In February 1991 he was named vice mayor of Zhangjiagang, and in 1997 elevated to deputy party chief. In December 1997 he was named party chief of Zhangjiagang. In 2001 he was a member of the Suzhou Party Standing Committee, then in November 2001 became vice mayor of Nanjing (department-level), in April 2003 he was named acting mayor of Nanjing, confirmed by a full session of the municipal People's Congress in January 2004. In August 2009, Jiang was promoted to a member of the Jiangsu provincial Party Standing Committee, then Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary of Suzhou. He left the post in June 2014, after having reached retirement age for active sub-provincial-level officials, and was named a Vice Chairman of the People's Congress of Jiangsu. [2]

He successively served as Communist Party Secretary of Liaoning province, Party Secretary and Governor of Jilin province, and Vice Governor of Jiangsu province. Once considered a promising future leader in the Communist Party, Wang retired from his provincial leadership positions in 2015, before coming under investigation for corruption in 2016. He was sentenced to life in prison upon being convicted on charges of bribery and dereliction of duty.

Jiang Dingzhi is a Chinese politician and current Chairman of the Jiangsu People's Political Consultative Conference (zhengxie). He holds a master's degree in Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology.

Ji Jianye is a former Chinese politician. He was mayor of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that Ji held office as mayor, then party secretary of the city of Yangzhou between 2003 and 2010. In October 2013, Ji Jianye was abruptly dismissed from office, and detained for investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In January 2014, Ji was expelled from Communist Party. He was tried on charges of bribery and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Prior to that, he served as the party secretary in the neighbouring city of Wuxi for seven years, and before that the Mayor of Suzhou. In 2015, Yang was put under investigation for corruption by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. He was tried and convicted on corruption charges and sentenced to twelve years and six months in prison in December 2016.

Miao Ruilin is a former Chinese politician, best known for his term as Mayor of Nanjing. In November 2018 he was placed under investigation by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. At the time he was serving as vice governor of Jiangsu.

Huang Kunming is a Chinese politician, currently serving as the Communist Party secretary of Guangdong and a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party. Zhang also has a seat on the Jiangsu provincial Standing Committee. On November 15, 2017, Zhang met with former Israeli Ambassador to China, Matan Vilnai. On August 30, 2017, Zhang led a party and government delegation to investigate the industrial development and technological innovation of Wuxi. In December 2016, while serving as Vice-Governor of Jiangsu, Zhang visited the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.

Jiang Zhuoqing is a Chinese politician who served as the chairperson of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress from 2020 to 2023.

Wang Yunkun is a Chinese politician who served as governor of Jilin from 1995 to 1998, Communist Party Secretary of Jilin from 1998 to 2006, and chairman of Jilin Provincial People's Congress from 1999 to 2008.

Cai Lixin is a Chinese politician, currently serving as deputy head of the Social Work Department. She was previously executive vice chairwoman of Guangxi.

Liu Handong is a former Chinese politician who spent most his entire career in east China's Jiangsu province. He was investigated by China's top anti-graft agency in April 2023. Previously he served as vice chairman of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress.
