Apur Sansar, also known as The World of Apu, is a 1959 Indian Bengali-language drama film produced, written and directed by Satyajit Ray. It is based on the second half of Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay's novel Aparajito. Following Pather Panchali (1955) and Aparajito (1956), The World of Apu is the final part of Ray's The Apu Trilogy, about the childhood and early adulthood of a young Bengali named Apu in early twentieth century India. The World of Apu stars Soumitra Chatterjee and Sharmila Tagore ; the duo would go on to appear in many subsequent Ray films.
Tarun Majumdar was an Indian film director, documentary filmmaker, Author, illustrator and screenwriter who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. He received five National Awards, seven BFJA Awards, five Filmfare Awards and an Anandalok Award. In 1990, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. He is recognized as one of the greatest influential filmmakers of India. His few movies were restored and digitized by the National Film Archive of India, along with his Contemporaries Arabinda Mukhopadhyay, Goutam Ghose. Tapan Sinha was one of the most prominent Indian film directors of his time forming a legendary quartet with Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. He was primarily a Bengali filmmaker who worked both in Hindi cinema and Bengali cinema, directing films like Kabuliwala (1957), Louha-Kapat, Sagina Mahato (1970), Apanjan (1968), Kshudhita Pashan and children's film Safed Haathi (1978) and Aaj Ka Robinhood. Sinha started his career in 1946, as a sound engineer with New Theatres film production house in Kolkata, then in 1950 left for England where he worked at Pinewood Studios for next two years, before returning home to start his six decade long career in Indian cinema, making films in Bengali, Hindi and Oriya languages, straddling genres from social realism, family drama, labor rights, to children's fantasy films. He was one of the acclaimed filmmakers of Parallel Cinema movement of India.
Amrita Kumbher Sandhane is a 1982 Bengali film directed by Dilip Roy. It is based on a story by "Kalkut", pseudonym of Samaresh Basu (1924–1988). Music is by Sudhin Dasgupta and stars Shubhendu Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, Bhanu Bandhopadhyay, Samit Bhanja, Ruma Guha Thakurta amongst others.
Samaresh Basu was an Indian writer in modern Bengali literature, known for his versatility and vast range of themes. He wrote under the pen name Kalkut. Basu was awarded the 1980 Sahitya Akademi Award in Bengali, by Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, for his novel, Shamba. He won the 1983 Filmfare Awards for Best Story for Namkeen.
Jhinder Bondi is a 1961 Indian Bengali-language historical drama film produced by Bholanath Roy under his banner B.N Productions and directed by the legendary Tapan Sinha, starring Uttam Kumar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Arundhati Devi and Tarun Kumar in lead roles. Uttam Kumar played dual role in this film. Film music was composed by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. The film become successful at the box office.

Ekhoni is a 1971 Bengali film directed by Tapan Sinha, starring Aparna Sen, Moushumi Chatterjee, Chinmoy Roy and others. Based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Ramapada Chowdhury, Ekhoni was one of the earliest films to address the problems of urban youth, and to replace the individual hero by a collective protagonist. Hindustani Sipahi is a 2002 Hindi film directed by Prasanta Bal and chief assistant director is Madhuchhanda Sengupta and produced by Mohan Kukreja. The film is based on Ferari Fauj, a famous Bengali play by Utpal Dutt. Victor Banerjee is the cinematographer of the film. Set against the backdrop of the revolutionary movement for Indian independence, it narrates the tale of some Indian revolutionaries who form an uprising against the British colonialism in India. It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Debashree Roy, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Lily Chakravarty, Debraj Ray, Indrani Haldar, Kunal Mitra, Kaushik Sen and Debesh Roy Choudhury. Music of the film was composed by Inderneel Chatterjee with lyrics penned by Om Deeshwal.
Prajapati was a Bengali social drama film directed by Biplab Chatterjee and produced by Rajesh Kumar based on the novel of Samaresh Basu in the same name. The film was released in 1993. A criminal case for obscenity was filed against the author Samaresh Basu and the publisher in 1968 for the original novel.
Mahaprithibi is a 1991 Bengali social drama film directed by Mrinal Sen. The film was released under the banner of G. G. Films and received BFJA Awards in 1992.

Arogya Niketan is a Bengali drama film directed by Bijoy Bose based on the same name novel of Tarasankar Bandyopadhyay. This film was released on 10 August 1967 under the banner of Aurora Film Corporation. This movie received the 15th National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.

Aparichita is a Bengali multi-starrer drama film directed by Salil Dutta based on a novel of Samaresh Basu actually inspired by The Idiot of Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It was released on 5 December 1969 under the banner of R.D. Productions. Uttam Kumar-Aparna Sen pair first appeared in this film.
