The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays their games at Princess Auto Stadium. The soccer team play their home games at the University of Manitoba Soccer Fields while the track and field teams use the University Stadium as their home track. The University has 18 different teams in 10 sports: basketball, curling, cross country running, Canadian football, golf, ice hockey, soccer, swimming, track & field, and volleyball.
Susan Margaret Auch is a Canadian former speed skater who competed in five Winter Olympics, winning bronze in the 3000m relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and the silver in the 500 m events at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway and the 1998 games at Nagano, Japan. In 1999, Auch announced her retirement from competition, but changed her mind and competed in a fifth Winter Olympics, the 2002 games at Salt Lake City, but didn't reach the podium and retired after those games.
Brian Paul Engblom is a Canadian ice hockey broadcaster for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and a former professional hockey defenseman. He was a three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadiens.
Michael James Grant Ireland is a Canadian long track speed skater.
Donald Gordon Duguid is a Canadian champion curler. A three-time winner of the Canadian Brier and two-time World Curling champion, Duguid won the Brier in 1965, 1970 and 1971, and the Worlds in 1970 and 1971. He was only the second skip ever to win back to back Briers in 1971. He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1974, Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1991, and the WCF Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2014, he was made a member of the Order of Manitoba. In 1981, his 1970 & 1971 teams were inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
Angela Chalmers is a Canadian retired track and field athlete who competed in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. She is the 1992 Olympic bronze medallist in the 3000 metres, and a three-time Commonwealth gold medallist, winning the 1500m and 3000m in 1990, and the 3000m in 1994.
Hugh Fisher, is a New Zealand-born Canadian sprint kayaker who competed from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s. He participated in three Summer Olympics: in 1976 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada; in 1984 in Los Angeles; and in 1988 in Seoul, Korea. He was also named to the 1980 Olympic team for Canada, but did not compete due to the Canadian boycott of those Games. At the 1984 Games with his racing partner Alwyn Morris, he won two medals, a gold in the K-2 1000 m and a bronze in the K-2 500 m events.
Tanya Dubnicoff is a Canadian cycling coach and retired track cyclist. She won four gold medals at the Pan American Games. She represented Canada at three consecutive Summer Olympics: 1992 in Barcelona, 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney. Dubnicoff retired in 2000.

Roy Edward Williams was a Canadian basketball player who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was born in Winnipeg. Williams was part of the Canadian basketball team, which was eliminated after the group stage in the 1952 tournament. He played all six matches. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
Eric Eaton Coy was a discus thrower and shot putter, who represented Canada at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He finished 23rd in the discus throw event, and his exact result in the shot put is unknown.
James Trifunov was a Canadian freestyle wrestler who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics, the 1928 Summer Olympics and 1932 Summer Olympics. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Rade Trifunov came from Jarkovac, Austria-Hungary, now Serbia, to Canada in March 1902 and settled in Truax, Saskatchewan, where James was born the following year.
Doreen McCannell Botterill is a Canadian speed skater. She competed for Canada in speed skating at the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics. She had won the 1966 North American Senior Ladies Championship. In 1995, she was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
Bruce Pirnie is a Canadian former shot putter who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics. He is a member of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
John Derek Riley was a Canadian rower who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Riley was inducted in the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009 and appointed the Order of Canada in 2014.
James Alexander Coleman was a Canadian sports journalist, writer and press secretary. His journalism career began with The Winnipeg Tribune in 1931, and included tenures with The Province and The Globe and Mail. He became Canada's first national print syndication sports columnist in 1950, writing for The Canadian Press and Southam Newspapers. He also appeared as a radio sports commentator and hosted The Jim Coleman Show on CBC Television, and served as press secretary for the Ontario Jockey Club and Stampede Park in Calgary. His father was D'Alton Corry Coleman, a former journalist and later president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. While travelling about North America to sporting events as a youth with his father, Coleman developed a lifelong love of horse racing, Canadian football and ice hockey.
Bob Hamerton was a Canadian swimmer. He competed in four events at the 1936 Summer Olympics.
Fred Ingaldson was a Canadian basketball player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1964 Summer Olympics.
James Saunders was a Canadian boxer. He competed in the men's heavyweight event at the 1952 Summer Olympics. At the 1952 Summer Olympics, he lost to Giacomo Di Segni of Italy.
