Jim Mayer (born October 30, 1954) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 74 games in the World Hockey Association and 4 games in the National Hockey League between 1976 and 1980. Mayer was born in Capreol, Ontario, and played with the New England Whalers, Calgary Cowboys, Edmonton Oilers, and the New York Rangers. [1]
Mayer played junior hockey with the Chelmsford Canadiens, and won the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year award in the 1971–72 season. [2] He was drafted 239th overall by the Rangers in the 1974 NHL amateur draft. [1] In the 1978–79 CHL season, Mayer scored 33 goals, and 43 assists with the Dallas Black Hawks, and was a second team all-star in the Central Hockey League. [2]

James Stephen Smith is a Scottish-born Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and former assistant coach of the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1984–85 to 2000–01 and coached from 2010-11 to 2020-21. Currently Smith is an assistant coach with the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Smith played in the 1991 All-Star game in Chicago and was part of the 1991 Canadian Team to win the Canada Cup in Toronto. Smith grew up in Cobourg, Ontario and has two brothers David and Ian.
