James Alan Scott (born 16 November 1946) is an Australian former politician.
Born in Kellerberrin,Western Australia,he worked as a theatrical set builder.
In the 1993 Western Australian state election,he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council region of South Metropolitan,the first member of the Greens [1] elected to the state parliament. He held the seat until 2005,when he resigned to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Fremantle,unsuccessfully. [2]

He was Labor Party leader and Leader of the Opposition from 1994 to 1996. He served as a minister,most notably as Attorney-General,in the governments of Carmen Lawrence,Geoff Gallop and Alan Carpenter.
Alan John Carpenter is a former Australian politician who served as the 28th Premier of Western Australia,from 2006 to 2008. From Albany,Carpenter graduated from the University of Western Australia,and worked as a journalist before entering politics. A member of the Labor Party,he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly at the 1996 state election,representing the seat of Willagee. In the Gallop ministry,which took office following the 2001 election,Carpenter was Minister for Education,as well as holding several other portfolios. He replaced Geoff Gallop as premier in January 2006,following Gallop's resignation,but Labor lost office following a hung parliament at the 2008 election,with Colin Barnett becoming premier as the leader of a minority Liberal Party government. Carpenter resigned from parliament in 2009,and until 2018 held a senior management position with Wesfarmers.
Scott Ludlam is a New Zealand-born Australian former politician. A member of the Australian Greens,he was a senator in the Australian Senate from July 2008 to July 2017 and served as deputy leader of the Greens. Ludlam represented the state of Western Australia and resigned when it was found that he had been ineligible to sit in the Senate due to holding dual citizenship of New Zealand and Australia.
Adele Simone Carles is an Australian former politician. She was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2009 to 2013,representing the electorate of Fremantle. She was initially elected as a Greens WA member at the 2009 Fremantle state by-election,becoming the first Greens candidate to be elected to an Australian state lower house of parliament in a single-member seat. However,she resigned from the Greens on 6 May 2010 to sit as an independent. In November 2010,Carles agreed to guarantee confidence and supply votes for the incumbent Colin Barnett Liberal minority government. She ran for re-election as an independent at the 2013 state election,but was defeated,finishing fourth behind the Labor,Liberal and Greens candidates with 5.49% of the vote.

She had previously served in the New South Wales Legislative Council between June 2013 and August 2018. Since June 2022,Faruqi has served as Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens.
The 2018 Victorian state election was held on Saturday,24 November 2018 to elect the 59th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 40 seats in the Legislative Council were up for election. The first-term incumbent Labor government,led by Premier Daniel Andrews,won a second four-year term,defeating the Liberal/National Coalition opposition,led by Opposition Leader Matthew Guy in a landslide victory. The election was held as a consequence of a double dissolution in which both houses of parliament were dissolved. Ordinarily,only half of the senators terms end at each election. In this case,all 76 senators were elected. At the first sitting following the election,half of the senators representing each of the six states of Australia were allocated six-year terms to end on 30 June 2022,with the remainder allocated three-year terms to end on 30 June 2019. The 2016 general election held on 2 July gave the Coalition of the Liberal and National Parties control of the House,albeit with a slimmer majority than the 44th Parliament,allowing their leader Malcolm Turnbull to stay in office as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia. During the term of the parliament,the government slipped into minority due to defections and by-elections. The leadership of the government also changed during the parliament,when Scott Morrison replaced Turnbull as Liberal Leader and Prime Minister in August 2018. The 45th Parliament was officially prorogued by the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove at 8:29 a.m. on 11 April 2019,and the House of Representatives dissolved at 8:30 a.m.
Michael Craig Berkman is an Australian politician and the member for Maiwar in Brisbane's inner-west. Berkman has been the member for Maiwar since the 2017 Queensland state elections,when he became the first Greens member to be elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland.
