The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a motorcycle rally held annually in Sturgis,South Dakota,and the surrounding Black Hills region of the United States. It began in 1938 by a group of Indian Motorcycle riders and was originally held for stunts and races. Since then,the rally has become a pluralistic endeavor that consists of events put on by many different groups. Attendance has historically been around 500,000 people,reaching a high of over 700,000 in 2015. The event takes place over 10 days and generates around $800 million in annual revenue.
The 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission preliminary list was released by the United States Department of Defense on May 13,2005. It was the fifth Base Realignment and Closure ("BRAC") proposal generated since the process was created in 1988. It recommended closing 22 major United States military bases and the "realignment" of 33 others. On September 15,2005,President George W. Bush approved the BRAC Commission's recommendations,leaving the fate of the bases in question to the United States Congress. Congress had a maximum of 45 days to reject the proposal by passing a joint resolution of disapproval,or the recommendations automatically enter into effect. Such a resolution was introduced to the House of Representatives on September 23,2005,by Rep. Ray LaHood (R-IL). The House took up debate of the resolution on October 26,2005. The resolution failed to pass by a 324-85 margin,thereby enacting the list of recommendations. The Secretary of Defense was required to begin implementing the recommendations by September 15,2007,and to complete implementation no later than September 15,2011.
KOTA-TV is a television station in Rapid City,South Dakota,United States,affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Gray Television alongside MeTV affiliate KHME and low-power Fox affiliate KEVN-LD. The stations share studios on Skyline Drive in Rapid City,where KOTA-TV's transmitter is also located.
KTEQ-FM is the campus radio station of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) in Rapid City,South Dakota. The station broadcasts a variety of music formats according to the tastes of the volunteer DJs doing the shows. The only restriction that KTEQ places on the formats of the shows is that the music cannot be Top 40 music. The station was off the air for nearly 13 1/2 years following the loss of its Non-commercial educational broadcast license but returned to air on March 8,2014. Besides broadcasting over-the-air,the station's programming is also transmitted over channel 6 of the cable television system on the SDSM&T campus and through Internet streaming.

The Nashville Fairgrounds,also known as The Fairgrounds Nashville and the Tennessee State Fairgrounds,is an entertainment complex in Nashville,Tennessee,United States. The 117-acre (47 ha) site is located southeast of Downtown Nashville on the Nolensville Pike. The historic home of the Tennessee State Fair,today the complex is home to Geodis Park,home of Nashville SC of Major League Soccer,Fairgrounds Speedway,the Tennessee State Fairground Sports Arena,the Nashville Flea Market,and The Nashville Fair. The site is undergoing redevelopment into a mixed-use development spurred by the construction of the soccer stadium with commercial and residential use and a community park. Additionally,there is a plan to renovate and upgrade Fairgrounds Speedway to host NASCAR Cup,Xfinity and Truck Series events in conjunction with Speedway Motorsports.
KRSD-TV was a television station in Rapid City,South Dakota,United States. Its programming was relayed on satellite station KDSJ-TV in Lead. Owned by Heart of the Black Hills Stations,the two stations went on air in 1958 and 1960,respectively. Due to serial deficiencies in the stations' technical operations,the two stations were ordered off the air in 1971 after a decade of proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission. The stations' ownership was able to delay their closure for five more years before finally shutting down in 1976.
