Jimmy Coenraets (born 25 March 1995) is a Belgian professional football manager who is the head coach of the Utah Royals of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). He was previously the manager of Belgian club OH Leuven.

Managerial career

OH Leuven, 2020–2024

Coenraets began coaching in 2016. He studied marketing and international football business at the University of Brussels and earned a UEFA A Licence. [1] He became manager of Oud-Heverlee Leuven in 2020, when the club was bottom of the Belgian Women's Super League. [2] He turned the club around as Leuven went 77–26–12 during his five seasons there. [3] [4] They finished as league runner-up to Anderlecht every year from 2020–21 to 2022–23 and were third in 2023–24, though they were top of the standings for the regular season. [5] [6] Coenraets was named the league's manager of the year in 2021–22. [7]

Utah Royals, 2024–

Coenraets was hired as an assistant coach to Amy Rodriguez for National Women's Soccer League club Utah Royals on 7 June 2024. [2] He was elevated to interim head coach following Rodriguez's dismissal on 30 June, when the Royals were bottom of the NWSL. [8] Coenraets oversaw a winning record over the rest of the year as the Royals won their group at the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup and reached 10th place out of 14 in the regular season. On 24 October 2024, he was promoted to head coach through the 2027 season. [7]

The 2011–12 season was Oud-Heverlee Leuven's 10th competitive season since the 2002 fusion between Stade Leuven, Daring Club Leuven and Zwarte Duivels Oud-Heverlee. It was their first season in the Belgian Pro League after being promoted from the Belgian Second Division and the first time in 61 years a team from the city of Leuven played in the highest division. OH Leuven finished in 14th place, one place clear of the relegation zone, thereby prolonging their stay at the top flight. Their cup run was unsuccessful, losing out to Rupel Boom form the third division in round 6, which was the round where the team entered the cup.

The 2024 Utah Royals season marks the team's fourth season of existence in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the top division of the American soccer pyramid. This season marks the team's first since 2020, after which the original club relocated to become the Kansas City Current. The club plays its home games at America First Field in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy. The club's head coach is Jimmy Coenraets, who served as interim head coach following the firing of former Royal and national team player Amy Rodriguez and was named the permanent head coach on october 24.
