Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician from Assam who is the current Cabinet Minister of Ports,Shipping and Waterways and Cabinet Minister of AYUSH in the Government of India. He is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Assam and also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs. He is a former Chief Minister of Assam and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (India) in Assam Legislative Assembly. Sonowal earlier served as the Assam state President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2012 to 2014 and again in 2015 to 2016. He has also served as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs,Government of India,from 2014 to 2016. He was chosen to be the Chief Minister of Assam after the 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly election and he became the first Chief Minister of Assam from Bharatiya Janata Party. During the cabinet reshuffle on 7 July 2021,he was inducted Cabinet minister in the 2nd Modi Cabinet.
Biswajit Daimary is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. He is current speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly. He represented Assam in Rajya Sabha as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and as a member of the Bodoland People's Front. He was first elected as Member of Assam Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Later elected as Member of Parliament to Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014. He was elected for second term from 2014 to 2020 as a member of Bodoland People's Front and from 2021 as a member of the BJP. In November 2020,Daimary left BPF to join Bharatiya Janata Party before election Bodoland Territorial Council elections. On 21 November 2020,Daimary resigned from the Rajya Sabha. He was re-elected on 23 February 2021.

The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases,on 4 and 11 April 2016,to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam,a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%,which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%.

The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021.
The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election was the 15th quinquennial legislative assembly election held in the Indian state of Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases,to elect 126 MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the result declared on Sunday,2 May. The term of the previous Fourteenth Legislative Assembly of Assam ended on 31 May 2021.
The United People's Party Liberal is a political party founded in Assam. The party has its headquarters in Kokrajhar Town. The party was actively participated in 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council Election under the presidency of Pramod Boro. Earlier the party was led by former MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma.
The 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council election was held between 7 and 10 December 2020 to elect members to the Bodoland Territorial Council,the autonomous district council for the Bodoland Territorial Region in India. All 40 elected seats in the council were up for election.
Jolen Daimary is an Indian politician and member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Tamulpur. Daimary is member of the United People's Party Liberal. He won 2021 elections by elections for Tamulpur after Leho Ram Boro died of COVID-19 in 2021.
Bhimananda Tanti is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He is a former Member of Assam Legislative Assembly and a former Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
Bhuban Gam is a politician from Bharatiya Janata party. He has been elected in Assam Legislative Assembly election in 2022 from Majuli constituency. Bhuban Gam won the Majuli By-Polls election held on 10 March 2022.
