Jiron Basumatary is an Indian politician and member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Gossaigaon. Basumatary is member of the United People's Party Liberal. He won 2021 elections by elections for Gossaigaon after Majendra Narzary died of COVID-19 in 2021. Previously,he was member of the Bodoland Territorial Council from Jamduar constituency. Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician from Assam who is the current Cabinet Minister of Ports,Shipping and Waterways and Cabinet Minister of AYUSH in the Government of India. He is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Assam and also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs. He is a former Chief Minister of Assam and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (India) in Assam Legislative Assembly. Sonowal earlier served as the Assam state President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2012 to 2014 and again in 2015 to 2016. He has also served as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs,Government of India,from 2014 to 2016. He was chosen to be the Chief Minister of Assam after the 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly election and he became the first Chief Minister of Assam from Bharatiya Janata Party. During the cabinet reshuffle on 7 July 2021,he was inducted Cabinet minister in the 2nd Modi Cabinet.
Biswajit Daimary is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. He is current speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly. He represented Assam in Rajya Sabha as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and as a member of the Bodoland People's Front. He was first elected as Member of Assam Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Later elected as Member of Parliament to Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014. He was elected for second term from 2014 to 2020 as a member of Bodoland People's Front and from 2021 as a member of the BJP. In November 2020,Daimary left BPF to join Bharatiya Janata Party before election Bodoland Territorial Council elections. On 21 November 2020,Daimary resigned from the Rajya Sabha. He was re-elected on 23 February 2021.
